    NYSC - Interior Architectural Supervisor

    Industry: Construction & Real Estate Development
    Department: Projects / Construction
    Reports To: Assistant Project Manager
    Duration: NYSC Service Year

    Summary

    • We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and highly motivated NYSC Corp Member to join our project team as an Interior Architectural Supervisor.
    • The successful candidate will support the supervision and coordination of interior architectural works across our construction projects, ensuring that work is executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.

    Key Responsibilities
    Interior Works Supervision:

    • Supervise day-to-day interior architectural works on assigned construction sites.
    • Monitor the execution of finishes including flooring, wall finishes, ceilings, painting, joinery, doors, cabinetry, sanitary fittings, lighting provisions, and other interior elements.
    • Ensure contractors and artisans execute work according to approved drawings, specifications, and required quality standards.
    • Identify defects, poor workmanship, deviations, and incomplete works and report them promptly.
    • Follow up on rectification of identified defects.

    Drawings & Design Coordination:

    • Review architectural and interior drawings before and during execution.
    • Ensure site execution corresponds with approved drawings and design intent.
    • Take site measurements and assist with setting-out where required.
    • Identify discrepancies between drawings and site conditions and escalate them to the appropriate supervisor.
    • Maintain up-to-date copies of relevant drawings, specifications, and site documents.

    Site Coordination:

    • Coordinate with architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, contractors, artisans, material suppliers, and other project team members.
    • Monitor the sequence and coordination of interior works with other trades.
    • Attend project/site meetings as required and provide updates on interior works.
    • Follow up on outstanding site activities and ensure they are completed within agreed timelines.

    Quality Control:

    • Inspect completed and ongoing interior works to ensure compliance with project standards.
    • Check workmanship, alignment, dimensions, finishing quality, material application, and overall aesthetics.
    • Ensure approved materials and finishes are used on site.
    • Report substandard materials, workmanship, or unauthorized changes immediately.

    Materials & Resource Monitoring:

    • Monitor the use and handling of interior finishing materials on site.
    • Assist in verifying delivered materials against approved specifications and quantities.
    • Report material shortages, damages, wastage, or discrepancies.
    • Work with the relevant project team members to ensure materials are available when required.

    Documentation & Reporting:

    • Prepare regular progress reports on interior architectural works.
    • Maintain records of site activities, inspections, defects, and completed works.
    • Take and maintain photographic records of project progress where required.
    • Document site observations and outstanding issues for follow-up.
    • Assist with preparation of snagging and handover lists.

    Health, Safety & Site Discipline:

    • Comply with all company health, safety, security, and site procedures.
    • Ensure contractors and artisans observe applicable site safety requirements.
    • Report unsafe practices, hazards, or incidents immediately.
    • Maintain professional conduct and discipline while on site.

    Other Duties:

    • Support the Project Manager and other senior project personnel in achieving project objectives.
    • Participate in site inspections, quality checks, measurements, and project reviews.
    • Perform other reasonable duties related to interior architecture and project execution as assigned.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
    Performance will be assessed based on the following:

    • Quality of Interior Works – Percentage of supervised works completed in accordance with approved drawings and quality standards.
    • Timely Completion – Ability to ensure assigned interior activities are completed within agreed project timelines.
    • Defect & Snag Management – Timely identification, documentation, and follow-up of defects and outstanding works.
    • Drawing Compliance – Level of adherence of executed works to approved drawings, specifications, and design intent.
    • Site Reporting – Accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of site and progress reports.
    • Material Management – Proper monitoring of materials, minimization of avoidable wastage, and prompt reporting of shortages or discrepancies.
    • Contractor/Artisan Coordination – Effective coordination and follow-up of contractors and artisans working on assigned interior activities.
    • Attention to Detail – Ability to identify inconsistencies, finishing defects, and deviations before project completion.
    • Professional Conduct & Compliance – Adherence to company policies, site procedures, safety requirements, attendance, punctuality, and reporting standards.
    • Learning & Development – Demonstrated improvement in technical knowledge, site supervision skills, and understanding of construction processes throughout the NYSC year.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • Minimum Qualification: B.Sc. / B.Tech / HND in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Interior Design, Building Technology, or a closely related discipline.
    • NYSC Status: Must be currently serving under the NYSC programme or eligible for NYSC placement.
    • Years of Experience: 0–1 year; previous  internship, industrial training, site experience, or relevant project experience is an advantage.
    • Must demonstrate a genuine interest in architecture, interior design, construction, and project execution.
    • Must be willing to work on construction sites and travel to project locations when required.
    • Must be physically and professionally prepared for a site-based role.
    • NYSC posting to Lagos is preferred, where applicable.

    Technical Competencies:

    • Basic knowledge of architectural and interior design principles.
    • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
    • Understanding of construction processes, materials, finishes, and interior detailing.
    • Basic knowledge of site supervision and construction practices.
    • Ability to identify construction defects and deviations from drawings.
    • Basic proficiency in relevant design/drawing software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, 3D Max, or similar tools is an advantage.
    • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
