    Nurse Educator

    Scope of work:

    WBFA is seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented individual with strong analytical, professional and creative acumen to fill the Nurse Educator role. The ideal candidate will have strong and proven track record that will help make a real difference in society in providing direct clinical, reproductive and neonatal health services.

    She/He will lead in engagement with and be directly providing health care services to adolescents in schools and mothers in health care facilities and communities as the need may arise. Whilst, ensuring the provision of various education and health services on but not limited to the following: educate and aid behavioural change in children's hygiene habits and reduce the incidence of illness and sick days from school, which will have a profound, generational, impact on health, education, and development.

    The Nurse Educator, in addition to other programs being run by the WBFA will also lead in engagement with adolescents in schools and nurses for the WBFA - Reckitt Program. The WBFA-Reckitt Accelerating the Hygiene Quest program seeks to educate and aid behaviour change in children's hygiene habits and reduce the incidence of illness and sick days from school, which will have a profound, generational, impact on health, education, and development.

    REPORT TO: Senior Programs Lead

    WORK WITH: Program Officer, Volunteers, Data Assistants, Coaches/Midwives

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Maintain and develop collaborative relationships with heads of governments and health facilities and supervise train, and coach clinical staff.
    • Prepare weekly and monthly reports of activities, including data collation.
    • Provide audio-visual content from all activities carried out.
    • Carry out sensitizations on Key WASH Hygiene Messages and education.
    • Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor.
    • Network and coordinate with the relevant sectors (communities, other INGOs,
    • ministry of health, water resources, environment, community leaders, Schools, etc.
    • Development and application of community-based health strategies with focus on reproductive health services.
    •  Building relationships with health workers, community members, and government agencies, and non-governmental NGOs.
    • Provide direct clinical reproductive, neonatal health and education services and promote Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Antenatal Care (ANC) Postnatal Care, (PNC), Emergency Obstetrics and Neonatal Care (EmONC) best practices as per international and WBFA minimum standards to women and infants as the need may arise.
    • The duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience. 
    • Assists in the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of protection and assistance programming for refugees, internally displaced and stateless persons.
    • Promote the sexual and reproductive health rights of Adolescents, nursing mothers and pregnant women, ensuring access to quality health services based on the health toolkits developed by WBFA.
    • Work with technical support and M&E teams to collect appropriate baseline data of programs.
    • Ensure adequate infection prevention and control measures are maintained in all facilities at all times.
    • Lead and advocate for quality healthcare in all facilities and communities, ensuring adherence to organisation’s goals and missions.
    • Maintain and develop collaborative relationships with heads of governments and health facilities as well as supervise, train and coach clinical staff.
    • Prepare weekly and monthly reports of activities, including data collation, ensuring quality reports are produced, case studies and success stories of interventions are well captured. Registered Midwife (RM), Registered Nurse (RN), Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSc.) with a minimum of 2 years working experience.
    • Supervise and facilitate data collection across all programs.
    • As well as other tasks that will arise in the line of duty.

    Qualification and Experience

    • Registered Midwife (RM), Registered Nurse (RN), Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSc.) with a minimum of 2 years working experience.

    Essential:

    • Ability to communicate in English and Yoruba
    • Good understanding of maternal and child health
    • Computer knowledge is an added advantage.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with children will be an added advantage.
    • Be able to prioritize tasks.
    • Able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
    • Experience with community development, working with children and schools.
    • Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • The ability to think critically and to recommend good solutions to problems.
    • Strong Organizational skills.
    • Ability to communicate in the local language of the environment will be an added advantage.
    • Ability to conduct outreach at the community level and schools.
