    Network Control Manager

    Role Context

    Empowered to manage the DHL Aviation SSA network on a day to day basis. Enact contingency plans and manage compliance to NCG Standards and systems.

    Key responsibilities

    • Real time management of the SSA dedicated air network. Identify potential service incidents and initiate corrective actions to minimize service impact (Network Operational Center – NOC).
    • Schedule and capacity management of the SSA dedicated network. Mid and short-term allocation planning, forecasting, ULD planning and balancing together with the relevant global, regional, local & functional stakeholders incl. partner airlines.
    • Ensure that all stakeholders are updated in regards to service incidents, crisis events and relevant information across all functions.
    • Main contact point for other DHL Express Regional & Global Network Control departments. Maintain and implement global NCG standard operating process and procedures.

    Regional Hubs and Gateways

    • Act as a first point of escalation for Network Control issues making decisions to ensure the highest level of on-time performance is achieved.
    • Develop and provide necessary monitoring, analysis and support for the escalation and resolution of trends.
    • Monitor regional network performance including OTP and capacity to resolve issues as they arise, ensuring compliance to pre-defined contingency plans.

    Aviation Commercial

    • Provide and manage agreed capacity splits between airline / DHL Express / ACS and others providing DHL Express the opportunity for growth. When required actively engage ACS to fill any capacity gaps.

    NCG Global

    • Comply with Global NCG process and tools and act as first contact point to Global and other Regional NCG’s.

    NCG Performance

    • Lead the process and system compliance of the Regional NCG’s.
    • Develop Corrective Action and Contingency plans in conjunction with Regional NCG’s and Aviation Managers.

    Capacity Control

    • Respond to issues arising from demand changes in the network to ensure movement of shipments without service impact at the lowest possible cost.

    ULD Control

    • Monitor Regional Compliance to updating ULD inventory systems to ensure sufficient inventory is available.
    • Ensure compliance of Regional NCG’s to ULD Balancing strategies.

    Crisis Management

    • Activate the Regional Crisis Management Team (RCMT) when deemed necessary by monitoring regional events that impact on DHL.

    Regional and Global Aviation

    • Assist regional Aviation Managers in the co-ordination, agreement and activation of flight contingencies.

    Head of Security Global

    • Activation of the Regional Crisis Centre by monitoring regional events that impact DHL’s people, assets or shipments.
    • Ensure clear and concise network communication in these events.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education & experience

    • Minimum of six years in middle (regional or country) management, including senior experience in operations.
    • University degree or equivalent industry experience.
    • Good management, influencing & communication skills.
    • Strong operational and network knowledge.
    • Strong planning and decision making competencies.
    • Well-developed planning and organisation skills.
    • Effective communication skills in English.
    • Entrepreneurial spirit.
    • Project management and planning skills.
    • High level of cross-cultural competency and interpersonal understanding.
    • Analytical thinking and problem solving skills highly developed.
    • Advanced Software Skills.
