    MHPSS

    Mental health activities

    • With an acute concern for neutrality and confidentiality
    • Perform psychological care (psychological support or psychotherapy) in accordance with ALIMA protocols, State guidance and mental health plan, international standards.
    • Assist cases (GBV, depression, anxiety, stress…) with identified mental or emotional disorders referred internally or externally
    • Conduct case-by-case needs assessments for the diagnosis of psychological disorders and identification of treatment and therapy
    • Define the best response (treatment and strategy) to meet these psychological needs
    • Carry out evaluation of mental health needs of patients/beneficiaries and establishing a diagnosis and a plan of treatment following WHO MHGAP approach and ALIMA case management protocols.
    • Referring cases to other health professionals (preferably a psychiatrist) if chemotherapy is needed and whenever necessary, in order to provide the most appropriate treatment and improve the patient's condition
    • Providing psychological support and psychotherapy sessions (individual, family, group) to beneficiaries in need according to ALIMA, MHGAP and other standards protocols in order to improve their psycho-social and mental health conditions
    • Document progress on cases, maintaining strict protocols for confidentiality and consent, and ensure that data protection protocols are respected
    • Assisting and training staff members (Nutrition and health) and resourceful people whenever necessary in order to enhance the scope of MHPSS activities. Facilitate trainings for internal staffs and communities on psychosocial first aid (PFA)
    • Strengthen community based psychosocial support and peer support group activities standard protocols and procedures set in order to provide the most appropriate management.
    • Provide coaching and support to the field staff in the implementation of structured MHPSS activities
    • Carry out all tasks respecting key protection principles, including but not limited to: do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability and need-to-know principles
    • Establish and maintain collaborative relations with relevant partners and other project stakeholders working in the project areas
    • Proactively participate in relevant coordination meetings, as requested by the coordination
    • Implementation of prevention measures against abuse of power, SGBV
    • Under supervision of the MHPSS Manager
    • Ensures that his/her team, partners and community members are aware of ALIMA's policy and have access to information (complaint escalation mechanism, focal point...).
    • Facilitates the organization of training and awareness sessions
    • Implements standards related to the prevention of abuse of power, gender-based violence and sexual violence.
    • Ensures that team members and partners involved in the project (Ministry of Health, national partners, etc.) follow training and awareness sessions and apply the rules for preventing abuse.

    -        Contributes to creating and maintaining a nurturing and protective environment for his/her team, community members and project partners.

    • Coordination and training                              
    • Implement the mental health component of the project
    • Improve the knowledge and training of health facility staff on "triage" and referral of patients to an appropriate professional structure when necessary

    “Public relations”

    • Create, maintain and work with a community mental health network
    • Monitoring, analysis and reporting
    • Participate in the development of the action plan
    • Actively monitor and report mental health activities (correctly fill out logs, statistics and produce reports). Propose an analysis of these statistics
    • Report immediately to the hierarchy all important information related to the activities of clinical psychologist that must be communicated to him

    • Any other task assigned by the direct supervisor and consistent with the objective of the position

       QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL:                                                                                                                                                                                         

    • BA/BSc in Clinical and Community Mental Health, Psychiatric Nurse, and Counselling Psychology
    • Essential 2 years’ experience in same /Similar position in medical organization preferably INGO’s
    • Previous experience as MHPSSs desirable with ALIMA or other NGO’s is desirable.
