MEP Designer at AIM Consultants

Job Summary

The MEP Designer is responsible for the design, coordination, and documentation of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems for construction projects. The role involves preparing detailed drawings, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient and cost-effective building services solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed MEP design drawings using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools
• Prepare layouts for HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and fire protection systems
• Perform basic design calculations (load calculations, sizing of equipment, etc.)
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications
• Coordinate MEP designs with architectural, structural, and other engineering disciplines
• Review and interpret project specifications, drawings, and client requirements
• Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and material specifications
• Support site teams with design clarifications and technical documentation
• Participate in design review meetings and contribute to value engineering initiatives
• Update drawings based on feedback and site conditions

Key Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field

Experience:

• 3–7 years of experience in MEP design within construction or consulting environments

Technical Skills:

• Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., COREN, NSE)
• Experience working on large-scale or multidisciplinary projects
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), and other relevant design software
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical distribution, plumbing, and fire protection systems
• Familiarity with local and international codes and standards
• Understanding of BIM processes is an added advantage
