    Medical Labouratory Scientist

    Job Summary:

    The Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for performing complex laboratory tests to help in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. This role ensures accurate and timely analysis of patient samples in accordance with established protocols and quality standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry and immunology.
    • Collect, label, and process biological specimens (blood, urine, sputum, etc.) in line with safety protocols.
    • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
    • Analyze test results and validate findings for accuracy before releasing reports.
    • Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to interpret lab results.
    • Maintain proper documentation, patient records, and laboratory logs.
    • Adhere strictly to infection control and biosafety guidelines.
    • Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs.
    • Assist in training new staff or interns when needed.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) or equivalent.
    • Valid practicing license from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
    • Minimum of 1–3 years of relevant work experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
    • Familiarity with modern laboratory equipment and diagnostic technologies.
    • Must reside with Cross River State Nigeria.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and procedures.
    • Good computer skills, including use of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
