    Medical Doctor

    Job Summary

    • A Medical Doctor (Physician) is a licensed healthcare professional responsible for diagnosing, treating, and preventing physical and mental illnesses, injuries, and medical conditions.
    • Physicians work in hospitals, clinics, and private practices, where they conduct examinations, order diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and perform medical procedures.

    Core Responsibilities
    Diagnosis & Treatment:

    • Evaluate patient symptoms and review medical histories.
    • Diagnose illnesses and develop appropriate treatment plans.
    • Prescribe medications and monitor patient progress.

    Preventive Care:

    • Advise patients on healthy lifestyle practices, nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.
    • Promote overall wellness and preventive healthcare measures.

    Testing & Procedures:

    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, blood tests, and scans.
    • Perform medical procedures and surgeries where applicable.

    Documentation & Collaboration:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
    • Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to provide quality patient care.

    Education & Training Requirements
    Undergraduate Education

    • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree, usually over four years.

    Medical School:

    • Completion of a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree, usually over four years.

    Residency Training:

    • Completion of supervised clinical residency training lasting between three (3) and seven (7) years, depending on specialization.

    Licensure:

    • Successful completion of required licensing examinations and fulfillment of state or national medical practice requirements.
