Role Summary:

As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently processing medical claims and invoices, ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance companies and other payers. You will play a crucial role in maximizing revenue and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Review patient medical records and documentation to accurately assign diagnostic and procedure codes for billing purposes.
• Prepare and submit insurance claims and invoices to third-party payers, including private insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, investigating discrepancies and resolving billing issues as needed.
• Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to address billing inquiries and resolve payment disputes.
• Maintain accurate records of billing activities, payments received, and outstanding balances.
• Stay updated on changes to insurance regulations and coding guidelines to ensure compliance with billing requirements.
• Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians and administrative staff, to optimize revenue cycle management processes.

Requirements:

• Diploma or degree in Medical Billing, Health Information Management, or related field.
• Proven experience working as a Medical Billing Specialist in a healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, CPT), and insurance billing practices.
• Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and coding.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
