Job Summary

• The Part-Time Mandarin Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging Mandarin language lessons that develop students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
• The successful candidate will create an interactive and supportive learning environment that encourages students to develop confidence and interest in the Mandarin language and Chinese culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Mandarin lessons appropriate to students' age, ability, and learning needs.
• Develop students' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing Mandarin.
• Use a variety of teaching strategies, resources, and activities to make lessons interactive and effective.
• Introduce students to aspects of Chinese culture, traditions, and customs where appropriate.
• Assess students' learning and provide constructive feedback on their progress.
• Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, assignments, and assessments.
• Maintain accurate records of students' attendance, progress, and performance.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles.
• Encourage active participation and foster a positive attitude towards language learning.
• Maintain a well-managed, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Collaborate with other teachers and relevant members of the academic team to support students' overall development.
• Participate in relevant school activities, meetings, and professional development sessions as required.
• Stay informed about current language-teaching methodologies and resources.
• Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Head of School or Head of Department.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Mandarin, Chinese Language, Education, Linguistics, or a related field.
• A recognised teaching qualification will be an advantage.
• Demonstrable proficiency in Mandarin and English.
• Previous experience teaching Mandarin, preferably in an international or multicultural school environment.
• Experience working with children and/or young learners.
• Knowledge of appropriate Mandarin language curricula and teaching methodologies.
• Experience in preparing and delivering engaging language lessons.
