Responsible for developing and implementing short- & long-term strategies to drive growth and profitability of the business. This includes strategic leadership to technical Service operations to maximise ROI and, focused on the optimization of departmental processes and safety procedures to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.
Key Accountabilities:
Handle technical oversight and administration of the workshops.
Drive optimum vehicle availability and reliability for the workshops.
Prepare, review and finalise annual BP & Capex along with all direct reports and line manager in alignment with Finance
Implement cost control and reduction strategies for all the fleet type in the business.
Monitor / Review profitability and identify key concern areas of improvement to initiate adequate action plan to achieve financial targets.
Provide leadership and management to staff within the business unit include dealing with recruitment, grievances, discipline, capability, and absence issues according to the company’s policies and procedures.
Develop and drive staff productivity indices, training needs, discipline, and team succession plan.
Review skill matrix of service personnel, identify key improvement areas / training needs and develop action plan
Effectively drive people development and manage the team to provide exceptional service delivery.
Review and implement fleet maintenance management strategies: ensuring that the strategic objectives are well understood and executed by team members.
Act as subject matter expert to operations managers and other key internal and external stakeholders on all fleet related matters of the business
Drive QHSE agenda and accident prevention through toolbox briefings and engagements.
Responsible for vehicle revamping and road transport accidents’ right actions and repairs.
Prepare necessary reports for presentation and tabling in the relevant operations/ customer meetings.
Mentor and coach subordinates
Ensure sound relations are maintained with relevant unions and/or shop stewards.
Take necessary precautions to control and safeguard company assets.
Ensure housekeeping is completed on an ongoing basis so that the workshop is kept clean and safe.
Ensure all vehicles are returned in a clean and hygienic state.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
Qualified Diesel Mechanic or Auto electrician
Skills and Experience:
Experience in all make and Models of trucks.
Experience in the transportation of all materials and/ or structure of Trailers.
Sufficient all-round Trailers experience also required.
Experience on specifications & building of Trailers.
Steel and Steel-related material knowledge.
Code 8 Drivers License (Preferably Code 14 with PDP
Experience in interacting professionally with clients on a senior level.
Knowledge of Applicable Legislation as well as Policies and Procedures.
Conflict resolution, collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills.
