The Tax Manager role is accountable for tax advisory services and keeping businesses compliant with various local, state, and federal tax regulations. He/she is also responsible for leading and managing multiple operations in the tax practice area and delivering quality tax services. The role is a business partner to our clients aiming at building relationships and providing innovative tax planning, consulting, and expertise.
Role And Responsibilities
Advise clients on general corporate compliance, cabotage, petroleum profits tax, Nigerian content in the oil and gas industry, recent tax legislations/regulations, foreign exchange legislation, and investments and securities.
Guide clients on the resolutions required for specific corporate actions and draft those resolutions.
Offer advice on contract structuring, compensation structuring and restructuring, business start-ups, registrations and regulations, business forecasts, tax budgeting, and increasing shareholder value.
Advise on international taxation issues, including thin capitalization, transfer pricing, and permanent establishment issues.
Perform due diligence reviews for clients during the consolidation of the banking and insurance sectors in Nigeria.
Supervise and review the filing of returns such as company income tax, education tax, and PAYE returns with tax authorities.
Represent clients during audits and negotiations, responding to queries and preparing objection letters as necessary.
Lead the preparation and organization of corporate tax returns and relevant records, ensuring compliance with applicable tax regulations.
Analyze clients' financial and legal situations to accurately determine their tax liabilities and recommend strategic tax planning solutions.
Establish and maintain robust policies and procedures to ensure effective tax management controls, minimizing risk and ensuring compliance.
Regularly inform management of changes in the tax landscape and potential impacts of tax legislation changes on corporate clients.
Identify risks and manage tax exposures through strategic tax planning and structuring, highlighting the implications of projects, contracts, and agreements.
Ensure all tax-related communications are promptly addressed and implement measures to prevent penalties and fines.
Qualifications And Experience Required
B.Sc. in Accounting or equivalent qualifications
Proven work experience as a Tax Senior Manager/Tax Manager
Minimum of 8-13 years cognate work experience
Professional accounting qualification ICAN/ACCA/CITN.
Well-versed in Tax Advisory Excellent knowledge of tax accounting & compliance and all types of tax returns
Excellent knowledge of local tax laws
Strong analytical skills
Exceptional client service and the ability to develop excellent client relationships
