    Manager Local Buyer

    Job Description

    As Manager Local Buyer, you will lead and actively participate to the strategic sourcing activities for your assigned perimeter of procurement families for Nigeria and Kenya.

    Reporting to the Senior Manager Europe & MEA Local Sourcing, you will be responsible to create and implement, efficient sourcing strategies for the Local Spend of Nigeria and Kenya.

    You will be responsible for all the local spend including manufacturing, commercial and other services (logistics, HR, etc.). Specific families in this role's perimeter include: Local Direct Material; local MRO services, local CAPEX spend, and local indirect spend, such as waste management; local HR (Consulting, relocation, internal events, administration outsourcing).

    Additionally, you will provide support for the implementation of Global and Regional family strategies.

    You will work closely with key stakeholders (both internal and external) in member organizations and in corporate functions to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans.

    Being responsible of all Local Spend in Nigeria and Kenya you will have the following specific responsibilities:

    • Build and manage a team of Local Buyers (Local Buyer - Kenya) and Expediting Procurement personnel
    • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for Local families within your perimeter
    • Conduct industry deep dive analysis to provide proactive insight to sourcing medium to long term strategy
    • Co-ordinate cross-functional teams in the development of sourcing strategies and execution plans.
    • Drive annual productivity improvements in Local families– The Local Buyer will develop, champion, and ensure implementation of ideas that will optimize the Group’s total cost of ownership year-over-year for Local families according to Group guidelines
    • Lead regular meetings with direct staff and cross functional teams to ensure assignments, objectives, cost savings and deliverables are on target.
    • Monitor Local family supplier performance & risk. You will directly solve operational issues with suppliers (e.g., quality, delivery and service issues) and be responsible for holding regular supplier reviews
    • Responsible for the budgeting of Local Spend families
    • Provide support for the implementation of Global and Regional family strategies at a Local level.
    • Ensure the proper implementation of sourcing strategies and procurement prοcedures, in accordance with guidelines set at Group level.

    Qualifications

    • BA required in Business Management, Supply Chain, or related field
    • Minimum 7 years of experience in procurement and 2 years' experience at a management procurement position, preferably in FMCG industry
    • Fluent English
    • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Passion for reducing costs and seeking out new opportunities in white space
    • Solid understanding of Manufacturing - Production - Quality Control
    • Proven strong project management experience
    • Strong negotiation and relationship skills
    • Ability to travel
