Manager - FTTH Core Network Planning at MTN Nigeria

Mission

• Responsible for the design, planning and optimization of MTNN’s FTTH Core (Data & Voice) Network; FTTH Core architecture/topology to achieve a cost effective and optimal network design.

Description

• Coordinating the efforts, input and output from internal and external stakeholders to ensure an efficient FTTH Core (Data & Voice) Network design.
• Interfacing with relevant stakeholders for FTTH Core (Data & Voice) solutions development and planning.
• Managing the evolution of the FTTH Core (Data & Voice) Network to place MTN in a position to effectively compete in a challenging Telecoms environment.
• Directing and mentoring the FTTH Core Network engineers to effectively meet their defined KPIs. 
• Defining and directing procedures to ensure an efficient and optimal FTTH Core (Data & Voice) network and timely deployment of quality network solutions.
• Reviewing and approving documentation and reports within the FTTH Core (Data & Voice) environment.
• Distil and translate MTNN’s Business plan and subscriber growth assumptions into requirements for the FTTH Core (Data & Voice).
• Drive the design and plan for cost efficient/least cost packet core network to support MTNN rollout with a 5+ year time horizon taking into cognizance the rapid spate of technology developments.
• Plan and monitor the FTTH Core (Data & Voice) Network budget in line with business plan and departmental goals and targets.
• Develop strategies to ensure efficient FTTH Core (Data & Voice) utilization & occupancy and ensure secure access to the MTNN network.
• Design network Architecture and specification of FTTH Core (Data & Voice) Network.
• Implement Virtualization, SDN and Cloud technologies to modernize legacy Network within the FTTH Core for data and voice.     
• Analyze traffic trends, forecast growth, perform network dimensioning and plan for capacity expansion.  
• Lead Cloud deployment including onboarding, testing, troubleshooting & validation. 
• Analyze protocol traces for root cause analysis of complex network faults and issues. 
• Implement product design and configure data policies for QoS, charging rate, fair usage etc. within the FTTH Core (Data & Voice).
• Identify and implement new solutions and features to enhance and optimize Fixed broadband service.  
• Prepare and present detailed technical solutions and executive summary reports.
• Maintain awareness of the latest technological and industry developments.
• Act as subject matter expert regarding FTTH core network and strategic capacity planning.
• Monitor international trends and business best practice in relation to specific network solutions or technology.
• Direct delivery of future proof solutions in the MTNN FTTH core networks to guarantee deliverables are met according to customer requirements both internal and external. 
• Direct activities for architectural service design and efficient delivery of FTTH Core platforms (BRAS/BNG, IMS, AAA nodes etc.)

Requirements
Education:

• First Degree in Electrical / Electronics, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Fluent in English

Experience:
6- 13 years’ experience which includes:

• Minimum of 4 years work experience in the telecommunications industry, particularly in FTTH Core network planning and design using BRAS/BNG, AAA, DNS, CDN and other FTTH core network platforms.
• Experience in FTTH – (BPON/EPON/GPON/XG-PON/XGS-PON, 25G/50G-PON etc.) Core Network planning.
• Clear Understanding of Cloud infrastructure platforms and technologies.
• Experience in 4G/5G Fixed wireless Access (FWA) planning.
• Good IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) Network planning and design knowledge.
• Good TCP/IP knowledge especially in Routing and switching.
• Good understanding of Fixed Core Network products planning.
• Hands on Statistics modeling and trending using Analytic/Modeling.
