Job Purpose

• Our client is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Manager for their Trade Finance department, with a focus on Commodity Trade Finance. 
• This role is based in the city of Abuja and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the expansion and diversification of African trade. 
• The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing opportunities for business development in trade finance, corporate finance, and investment banking across all member states and participating states.

What you'll do

• As a Manager in Trade Finance focusing on Commodity Trade Finance, your role will be pivotal in driving the growth of African trade. 
• You will be responsible for originating and completing trade finance transactions across a spectrum of sectors in various African countries. 
• Your expertise will be crucial in structuring these transactions and negotiating term sheets to execution. 
• You will also play a key role in supporting the preparation of annual business development plans for the unit, translating these plans into tangible business outcomes. 
• Your excellent relationship-building skills will enable you to manage a diverse portfolio of clients including major commodity traders, exporters, importers, financial institutions, and corporates operating within Africa.
• Originate and complete trade finance transactions across various sectors in different African countries.
• Structure transactions, develop and negotiate term sheets to execution.
• Support the preparation of annual business development plans for the unit.
• Translate business development plans into real business for the Bank from all segments of the commodity trade finance market.
• Manage the commodity trade finance portfolio, ensuring optimal time management from origination to contracting.
• Develop relationships with major commodity traders, exporters, importers, financial institutions, and corporates operating in Africa.

Qualifications & Experience

• As an ideal candidate for this Manager - Trade Finance (Commodity Trade Finance) role, you bring along a wealth of experience in Banking or International Trade Finance. 
• Your familiarity with major trade finance products such as syndications, co-financing, club deals among others sets you apart. 
• Your understanding of international trade and trade finance rules including International Chamber of Commerce Rules is essential for this role. 
• Your excellent communication skills coupled with your proven experience in marketing trade and enabling project finance products make you an ideal fit.
• Furthermore, your demonstrated leadership capabilities underscore your ability to effectively manage human resources.
• Proven experience in Banking or International Trade Finance.
• Sound knowledge of major trade finance products such as syndications, co-financing, club deals, etc.
• Understanding of international trade and trade finance rules including International Chamber of Commerce Rules.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in marketing trade and enabling project finance products.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities with ability to manage human resources effectively.
