Maintenance Technician at ReelFruit

Description 

• The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of all factory equipment used in production processes.
• This role involves executing preventive and corrective maintenance, minimizing machine downtime, and ensuring machinery operates at peak efficiency to support the production of high-quality products.
• The Maintenance Technician will collaborate with the maintenance team and production staff to uphold operational standards and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance and Repair

• Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on production machinery and auxiliary equipment.
• Overhaul and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems to minimize downtime and production disruptions.
• Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical and electrical components of factory machines.
• Document all maintenance activities and update records for future reference.

Installation and Setup

• Collaborate with the maintenance team to install and commission new machinery.
• Ensure new equipment is calibrated, tested, and optimized for production use.
• Assist in the layout planning and installation of production lines.

Operational Efficiency and Quality Assurance

• Monitor machinery performance and recommend improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
• Support production and quality control teams in maintaining high product standards by ensuring machines operate within specified parameters.
• Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations during maintenance activities to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Downtime and Waste Reduction

• Analyze machine breakdowns to identify root causes and implement long-term solutions.
• Develop and implement strategies to minimize equipment downtime and enhance overall operational efficiency.
• Maintain an inventory of critical spare parts to ensure quick replacement and reduce operational delays.

Safety and Compliance

• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Participate in regular safety inspections and audits, addressing any issues promptly.
• Provide input on risk assessments and maintenance-related safety procedures.

Team Collaboration and Leadership

• Provide technical guidance to junior maintenance staff and production teams.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance processes and best practices.
• Lead by example, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.

Educational Qualification & Experience

• B.Eng or HND in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment performing similar duties.
• Proficient in diagnosing and repairing industrial machinery.
• Knowledge of PLCs, electrical circuits, mechanical systems, and hydraulic/pneumatic machinery.
• Experience with utilities and generator maintenance.
• Ability to supervise and lead small teams during maintenance projects.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management software.
