Logistics and Operations Manager at H. Pierson Associates

Job Summary: 

• Our client seeks a highly experienced Logistics and Operations Manager with a proven track record in implementing technology-driven supply chain solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing AI-enhanced logistics and supply chain operations for crude oil, refined products, and gas, ensuring cost-effective, timely, and compliant delivery of products to clients across Africa. The role demands versatility in leveraging predictive analytics, digital twins, and AI-driven logistics platforms while coordinating with multiple stakeholders and leading operational teams to meet the company's business objectives in an increasingly competitive market.   

Key Responsibilities: 

• Originate and execute profitable oil and gas trading deals across West Africa, including spot and term contracts. 
• Manage and optimize logistics operations for the transportation, storage, and distribution of oil, gas, and refined products. 
• Implement and manage AI-powered logistics optimization systems to improve route planning, inventory forecasting, and asset utilization across the supply chain  
• Develop and oversee predictive maintenance programs for logistics assets using machine learning algorithms and IoT sensor data  
• Lead digital transformation initiatives in logistics operations, incorporating blockchain for transparent supply chain tracking and smart contracts  
• Utilize big data analytics and AI to identify patterns in operational data that can inform strategic decisions and risk management  
• Deploy AI-based demand forecasting models to optimize inventory levels and reduce carrying costs  
• Implement computer vision and AI solutions for terminal operations, quality control, and safety monitoring  
• Oversee the integration of autonomous vehicle technologies in appropriate logistics channels  
• Establish data governance frameworks to ensure high-quality data inputs for AI-based decision support tools  
• Collaborate with IT teams to implement cybersecurity measures for protecting sensitive logistics data and systems 
• Coordinate with third-party logistics providers, fleet management, port operators, and customs authorities to ensure on-time delivery and minimized downtime. 
• Oversee the entire supply chain process, from product procurement to final delivery, ensuring operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. 
• Develop and maintain robust operational plans and schedules for the safe handling, transportation, and delivery of bulk oil & gas products. 
• Monitor and manage the end-to-end logistics chain, including inventory management, vessel chartering, truck/rail movements, and pipeline operations. 
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, health & safety standards, and environmental guidelines in all logistical and operational activities. 
• Analyze and mitigate supply chain risks (e.g., geopolitical factors, price volatility, weather conditions) and implement contingency plans. 
• Lead and manage a team of logistics and operations professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. 
• Collaborate with procurement, finance, and legal teams to ensure that all logistics contracts, terms, and financial models are aligned with the business goals. 
• Conduct performance assessments, cost control, and process improvements to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs. 
• Generate regular reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance, identify bottlenecks, and recommend process improvements. 

Key Requirements 

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certifications in AI applications for supply chain is highly desirable  
• 8-12 years of experience in logistics and operations management, with at least 5 years in the Oil & Gas sectorand demonstrable experience implementing technological solutions  
• Proven experience in designing and implementing AI-driven logistics solutions including predictive analytics, optimization algorithms, and automated planning systems  
• Strong understanding of machine learning applications in supply chain management, including demand forecasting, anomaly detection, and optimization algorithms  
• Experience with IoT implementations in logistics operations, including sensor networks, telematics, and real-time tracking systems
