Roles & Responsibilities
The library assistant is responsible for supporting the daily operations of a library. The primary duties of this officer include assisting patrons in locating and borrowing materials, issuing library cards and handling book check-ins and check-outs. The officer shall also organize and shelve books and other library materials, ensuring that the library is well-maintained and organized. Library assistants also help patrons with basic research, computer use and provide information about library programs and services. Additionally, they assist with routine administrative tasks, such as processing fines and fees, maintaining library records, and helping with inventory control.
