    Legal Officer

    Job Objective:

    • To provide overall legal expertise and support on legal issues relating to the functions, structures and activities of the organization and support management on issues pertaining to legal and regulatory framework.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Company Secretarial Duties;

    • Assist the Company Secretary with the preparation of Board Meetings, Board
    • Committees and Annual General Meetings which includes but not limited to preparing reports, minutes, and other necessary documents for each meeting.
    • Prepare post-incorporation documents and Board/General Meeting
    • Resolutions for filing at the Corporate Affairs Commission.
    • Filing and maintenance of statutory books and legal documents.

    General Legal Advisory;

    • Drafting and reviewing Of agreements and other legal documents.
    • Provide legal opinion and legal advice to clients and other departments in the Company under the supervision and direction of the Company Secretary.
    • Liaise with external solicitors, monitoring litigation matters and reviewing Court processes.
    • Attend and observe Court proceedings, where necessary.
    • Maintaining and updating the litigation schedule.
    • Handling notarization of documents for the business development units.

    Correspondence with Regulatory Bodies;

    • Prepare adequate responses on stakeholders' complaints and/or enquiries to SEC, NGX Regulation Limited, EFCC, Courts, and other regulators for the Company Secretary's review and execution.

    Probate and Transmission [Verification;

    • Monitor the Confirmation of Letters of Administration and other probate documents.

    Work Experience & Education Requirement:

    • BL (Barrister at Law), at least five (5) years post-call
    • LLB (Bachelors of Law) from a reputable university
    • At least 4 years of experience as Company's Legal Officer
    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 products
    • Previous experience in the Capital Market will be an added advantage

    Skill/Competencies;

    • Good written and oral communication skills
    • Attention to details.
    • Knowledge and effective application of all relevant SEC policies, processes, procedures and guidelines to consistently achieve required compliance standards or benchmarks.
    • Analytical and Problem-Solving skills
