Lead Solar Design Engineer at ETC Workforce Services Limited

Role Overview

• The Lead Solar Design Engineer provides advanced engineering design leadership while also performing hands-on PV system design.
• The role ensures technical accuracy, Nigerian regulatory compliance, system optimization, and cross-functional coordination across all solar projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering design function and approve all technical deliverables.
• conduct detailed load assessments, system sizing, and site evaluations.
• Prepare PV array layouts, string configurations, cable sizing, and BOS specifications.
• Develop Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), BOQs, and simulation reports.
• Ensure compliance with NEMSA, SON standards, DISCO interconnection rules, and Nigerian electrical codes.
• Support project managers and installation teams during execution, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and designers.
• Drive engineering innovation and adoption of emerging solar technologies.

• Accuracy and reliability of system designs.
• Timeliness of design submissions.
• Compliance with Nigerian regulatory standards.
• Technical quality of documentation and simulations.
• Effectiveness of collaboration with project and installation teams.

Qualifications & Certifications (Nigeria)

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
• COREN Registration (R.Eng.).
• NSE Membership (Graduate or Corporate Member).
• GIZ/NESP Solar PV Installation & Design Certification (preferred).
• REAN Solar PV Competency Certification (advantageous).
• NEMSA electrical safety and compliance training.
• SON Standards / SONCAP compliance exposure.
• 4–6 years of solar PV design experience in Nigeria.

Skills & Competencies:

• Solar PV engineering expertise, including hybrid and grid-tied systems.
• Proficiency with PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, and electrical simulation tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Ability to interpret Nigerian electrical codes and interconnection standards.
• Excellent communication and team leadership.

Working Conditions:

• Hybrid - Office-based with periodic site visits.
• Collaboration with project, procurement, and installation teams.
• Attendance at client technical presentations when required.
