Lead, Financial Reporting at Credit Direct Limited

The role involves overseeing the extensive variety of duties undertaken by the financial control and treasury functions, including managing and developing staff, supporting other departments and identifying areas that require improvement or change.

General

• Overseeing the continuous improvement of Accounting and Financial Processes and the development of the finance team with the goal to achieve best practices and optimal output.
• Taking an active role in developing and overseeing accounting policies and procedures to meet both current and future business models
• Supervises and coaches junior staff including hiring, discipline and performance appraisal.
• Advise on the delivery of cost effective and efficient accounting and financial systems, policies and processes that meet the current and future business requirements
• Creates a positive and vibrant image of the Finance team to the rest of the organization

Budgeting

• Active participation in the annual business plan development and budgeting process and provide ongoing financial modeling and analysis expertise to Executive Management to support the development of long-term strategic initiatives and business plans
• Coordinates annual budget formulation and assists in preparation of the annual budget and revised monthly forecasts.
• Reviews, analyzes, and reports departmental/office budgets and expenditures and variances. Controls approved financial plans and budgets. Arranges reprogramming of funds in accordance with approved guidelines and policy.

Treasury Management

• Establishes and maintains a system of policies and procedures that impose an adequate level of control over treasury activities
• Overseeing the Cash Management and investment function, including banking relationships.
• Review of weekly Asset-Liability Committee report; ensuring that the report is sent to the CFO by 1pm every Monday
• Review of daily liquidity report; ensuring that the report is sent to the CFO by 11 am daily
• Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements
• Advise management on the liquidity aspects of its short- and long-range planning
• Keeping CFO abreast of any potential liquidity issues
• Forecast cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available funds for investment

Local Reporting

• Preparation and presentation of monthly and year-to-date financial statements of Credit Direct Limited with accompanying analysis of results. Variance analysis of monthly and year-to-date figures for Income Statement and Statement of financial position.
• Active role in preparation of Board and Board Finance Committee meeting presentations
• Overseeing the external audit of the bank’s financial statements, review and analyze results and recommend for approval the Audited Financial Statements. Liaising with the external auditors ensuring all key requirements are met
• Supervision of month end reporting to Central Bank of Nigeria. Monthly returns should be sent to Central Bank of Nigeria by 5th day of the subsequent month
• Provide review guidance of accounting entries for transactions
• Supervises the maintenance of general ledger accounts receivables, prepayments, accrual, revenue, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses

Qualifications

• Minimum of Second-Class Upper Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or related field
• ACA / ACCA /CIMA Qualified
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in Finance
• Able to implement controls and new processes
• Strong financial modelling and Excel / PowerPoint skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
• Strong analytical skills

• Strong problem-solving skills
