Job Summary

• The job holder will be required to assist the Head, Capital Markets in sourcing of clients, executing equity and mezzanine capital raising, as well as merger, acquisition, divestment and restructuring transactions for Clients.   

Duties & Responsibilities

• Market scanning and evaluation of potential Clients (in Nigeria and across Africa) which may benefit from equity/mezzanine capital raising or M&A transactions.
• Identify specific sectors with significant transaction potential and provide guidance to senior colleagues (Head of Capital Markets; Head of Origination, MD, Investment Banking; Group CEO) on these Clients, in order to approach them.
• Lead the development of pitch documents and proposals to potential Clients for transactions within his/her purview.
• Analyze client’s capital structure and propose multiple options and funding strategies to reduce the client’s overall cost of capital, as well as finance growth.
• Develop relationships with local and international investors in equity and mezzanine instruments (pension funds, asset managers, development finance institutions, venture capital funds, etc), to ensure that Client objectives are achieved.
• Prepare and/or supervise financial analysis, financial models and valuation memoranda to support equity issuance and M&A deals.
• Monitor and evaluate capital market conditions and regulations, to ensure that Clients are advised appropriately.
• Take primary responsibility for transaction processes (public offers, equity private placements, business sales, valuations, restructuring, etc.) from beginning to end.
• Be the primary liaison between the Client’s project team and United Capital, ensuring clear communication on the project, as well as Client satisfaction.
• Provide support to the overall capital markets team, particularly on debt capital raising transactions.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and co-ordinate professional parties in the transaction process (accountants, bankers, lawyers, registrars) to ensure that transactions are closed within Clients desired timelines.
• Provide guidance, supervision and mentorship to Analysts, developing their skills in the equity raising and M&A space.

Requirements

• First Degree or its equivalent from a reputable tertiary institution, as well as post-graduate or professional qualifications such as MBA, M.Sc. Finance, ACA, ACCA, ACS, CFA would be beneficial.
• Minimum of seven (7) years cognate experience especially in a role involving equity / mezzanine capital raising/M&A responsibilities.
• Experience in leading and closing capital raising and/or M&A transactions within the technology sector will be a distinct advantage.
• Experience in closing deals with private equity investors and/or development finance institutions will also be considered advantageous.
