    Lead Contracts Specialist

    A Major EPC Oil and Gas company is looking to hire a Lead Contracts Specialist with legal background who has 7 – 8 years of experience and can handle the following responsibilities

    Job Summary

    • To lead, drive and manage all contracting processes, category/strategic interfaces, contracts and contractors to deliver key contracts in support of the Project.
    • To monitor and report on contracting activities while ensuring that contractors work safely to deliver on contracted scopes.
    • To work closely with Project Management Team, Operations, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and Quality, Health & Safety functions to ensure alignment and compliance.

    Key Roles and responsibilities

    • Responsible for contracting activities including but not limited to Civil Works, Civil Infrastructure & Services, Telecom Infrastructure Services & Works, Road Construction & Rehabilitations, Campsite Construction, Marine Services, Engineering Support Services, Consultancy Services, Project Studies, etc as pertains to the Project
    • Utilise company’s standard model contract in liaison with Legal for work packages, good and service type contracts
    • To carry out on a regular basis the raising and handling of Service Works Orders or and Service Requests to support the projects/operations non-core activities.
    • Actively participate in all Strategic Supplier management / KPI review meetings.
    • Initiating, leading, managing and driving to conclusion any contract request.
    • Uses the knowledge of commercial contract law to utilise model contracts, develop and sign off pertinent Category contractual terms and conditions.
    • Leads commercial / contractual discussions with suppliers
    • Identifies, implements and realises value through effective ‘strategic cost management’ utilising best in class methods and tools and mitigates business risk through ensuring rigorous contract management controls
    • Jointly with the Technical Lead, leads development of Performance Improvement Plan and recommends intervention (i.e. re-negotiate or cancel contracts) if performance improvement plan fails
    • Routinely communicates openly and with integrity with key business stakeholders to ensure alignment of SCM and the internal customer.
    • Prepare non-GA contracts proposals / strategies and ensure timely placements of the relevant contracts (minor, one-off) to support the project and other department’s activities as required.
    • Develops high level of category competency through knowledge transfer and mentorship from experienced category team members

    Professional Qualification

    CIPS Member or equivalent

    • Experience in the Oil & Gas Industry.
    • Excellent writing skills
    • Time management
