    Label Services & DSP Campaign Assistant

    • Empawa Africa is seeking an ambitious and highly organised Label Services & DSP Campaign Assistant to join our Label Services team. This role sits at the intersection of distribution, DSP campaign management, and artist relations, and is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in artist management, label services, or A&R.
    • You will play a front-facing role across all distribution and DSP matters, supporting artist releases from upload to pitching, performance tracking, and reporting, while also assisting with creative initiatives such as artist camps and project coordination.
    • This is a high-impact, fast-paced role for someone passionate about African music and excited about helping pioneer its global growth.

    Duties to include but not limited to:

    • Learn and acquaint themselves with Empawa Africa’s current systems of operation and meet stakeholders within the team
    • Support the end-to-end execution of artist releases across all major DSPs, including uploading and delivering tracks via the emPawa Dashboard (Vydia) and Boomplay, metadata coordination, scheduling, and campaign delivery.
    • Assist with DSP editorial pitching, playlist submissions, and campaign tracking., including pitching via Spotify for Artists and the Apple Music pitching tool and preparing DSP mailers. Begin preparing pitches around 6 weeks before release, submitting no later than 14 days before release for Spotify and around 4 weeks before release for Apple Music.
    • Prepare and distribute DSP performance reports, analysing key including Week-1 performance summaries within 7 days of release, playlist reports, and quarterly reports, pulling data from Spotify for Artists, Apple Music for Artists, Audiomack and YouTube, and communicating insights to artists and managers.
    • Act as a primary point of contact for artists and managers on distribution-related matters.
    • Support the Label Services Manager in managing relationships with artists, managers, and digital partners.
    • Assist artists with release assets, creative materials, smart links, and reporting to ensure smooth and timely delivery.
    • Build and maintain strong working relationships across Empawa’s artist roster and extended creative network.
    • Assist in the planning and execution of artist camps, writing sessions, and creative projects.
    • Support the coordination of producers, songwriters, and artists throughout the creative process.
    • Develop a strong understanding of Empawa Africa’s projects and contribute to their execution alongside internal teams.
    • Learn and engage with Empawa Africa’s internal systems, workflows, and stakeholders.
    • Support project communication, documentation, and information flow across teams.
    • Assist with budgeting, tracking project spend, and preparing post-project reports and presentations.
    • Collect, format and sync song lyrics for each release via Musixmatch.
    • Maintain the release sheet, release stats tracker, and the Active Roster asset library, ensuring all release assets are received within the timelines required for DSP submissions.
    • Monitor daily streaming performance across Spotify, Apple Music, Audiomack and YouTube during active campaigns, flagging significant spikes or drops to the marketing team.
    • Support DSP relationship management, including sharing release calendars, sending monthly updates to DSP contacts, and following up on submission or technical issues until resolved.

    • Confident working with spreadsheets, data, budgets, and performance metrics.
    • Strong in presentation and report creation, with the ability to distill ideas and results into clear, professional formats.
    • Analytical, curious, and comfortable using data to assess performance and inform strategy.
    • Relationship-driven, collaborative, and able to manage multiple stakeholders with a “partner-first” mindset.
    • Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-moving, sometimes ambiguous environment.
    • Results-oriented, positive, and eager to learn, grow, and take ownership.
    • Flexible, resilient, and able to handle challenges while maintaining perspective and a sense of humour.
    • Familiar with (or quick to learn) DSP and distribution platforms such as Spotify for Artists, Apple Music for Artists, the emPawa Dashboard (Vydia), Boomplay and Musixmatch, as well as Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Drive)
