Junior Accountant at Small Mammal Conservation Organization (SMACON)

About the job

• The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial budgets and reports for multiple grants, company audits, compliance, and bank relationships. The candidate will possess a strong background in finance and management.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly reconciliation and reports
• Prepare financial annual reports and statements
• Ensure prompt entry of financial activities into accounting software
• Prepare budgets for grant applications
• Ensure SMACON meets donors’ financial reporting expectations
• Ensure that SMACON complies with federal and state financial and tax requirements
• Maintain financial security and appropriate expenditure through internal controls
• Reconcile financial discrepancies through in-depth analyses of accounts, and financial records
• Reports directly to the Chief Finance Officer

Qualifications/Requirements

• Strong finance-based analytical skills and post-qualification experience
• In-depth knowledge of financial systems, financial management, and reporting
• Minimum of B.Sc/BA/HND in Accounting, Management, or related disciplines
• Must be able to work with QuickBooks
• ICAN or equivalent certifications will be an added advantage
• Bank and auditor liaison
• Prior experience with a non-governmental organization, managing multiple grants will be an added advantage
