    IT Manager (Platform)

    The Role

    • The IT Manager (Platform) is the operational backbone of the platform engineering team — the person responsible for ensuring that every engineer, architect, and specialist has the tools, devices, access, and IT environment they need to do their best work without friction. Reporting to the Platform Director, you will manage the team's end-user computing environment, IT service desk, software and hardware assets, office network infrastructure, and the IT security controls that keep the team's work environment secure and compliant. This is a hands-on management role: you set the standards, run the operation, and solve problems — escalating to technical specialists where needed, but owning the IT function as a whole.

    What You'll Do

    • End-User Computing & Device Management — Own the lifecycle of all devices used by the platform engineering team — procurement, configuration, deployment, maintenance, and secure decommissioning. Ensure every team member has a properly configured, policy-compliant machine from their first day. Maintain an accurate, up-to-date asset register covering all hardware in the team's possession.
    • IT Service Desk & Support — Operate the IT service desk for the engineering team — providing timely, effective support for hardware and software issues, access requests, connectivity problems, and general IT needs. Track all incidents and requests, monitor resolution times, and continuously improve service quality. The engineering team should never be blocked by an IT problem that hasn't been addressed.
    • Identity & Access Management — Manage user accounts, access rights, and identity lifecycle across the team's IT environment — including onboarding, role changes, and offboarding. Enforce least-privilege access principles, ensure MFA is active for all accounts and systems, and maintain accurate access records that can be audited at any time. Work closely with the security team on access governance.
    • Office Network & Connectivity — Manage and maintain the office network infrastructure that the engineering team depends on — local area networking, internet connectivity, VPN access for remote and hybrid workers, and the physical network hardware on site. Ensure network performance is reliable and consistent, and that connectivity issues are diagnosed and resolved with minimal disruption to the team.
    • Software Licensing & SaaS Management — Own the team's software asset inventory — tracking all licensed software, SaaS subscriptions, and developer tools. Ensure the team has access to what they need, licences are compliant and not over-provisioned, and renewals are managed proactively. Work with Ops and Procurement on vendor contracts and cost management.
    • IT Security & Endpoint Compliance — Enforce IT security controls at the device and user level — including endpoint protection, patch management, encryption policies, and device compliance monitoring. Ensure all devices meet the security baseline required for work on a regulated financial platform. Work with the Platform Manager (Security) and the broader security team to implement and maintain IT security standards across the team's environment.
    • Onboarding & Offboarding — Own the IT dimension of every new hire arrival and departure — ensuring each new team member is fully set up and productive on day one, and that all access and devices are securely recovered and deprovisioned when someone leaves. Coordinate closely with HR and the relevant hiring managers to ensure IT readiness is never the bottleneck in onboarding.
    • IT Procurement & Vendor Management — Manage IT procurement in collaboration with the Ops and Procurement team — sourcing hardware, peripherals, and software in line with the team's requirements and the organisation's procurement policies. Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers, ensure SLAs are met, and flag issues or opportunities for improvement.
    • IT Governance & Documentation — Maintain the IT policies, procedures, and documentation that govern the team's IT environment. Ensure policies are up to date, communicated clearly to the team, and enforced consistently. Keep records that satisfy internal governance requirements and any external audit or compliance needs relevant to the platform's regulatory environment.
    • Business Continuity & IT Resilience — Ensure the team's IT environment is resilient — with appropriate backup procedures, recovery plans, and contingency arrangements for hardware failure, connectivity outages, or other IT disruptions. The engineering team must be able to continue working through IT incidents with minimal disruption. Work with the SRE team and Platform Manager on continuity planning where IT and platform operations intersect.

    What We're Looking For

    Must Have

    • 4+ years of IT management or senior IT support experience — with direct responsibility for end-user computing, service desk operations, and IT asset management in a technology organisation.
    • Solid understanding of identity and access management — Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, or equivalent — including user provisioning, access governance, and MFA enforcement.
    • Hands-on experience managing office network infrastructure — LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and the physical hardware that underpins it.
    • Experience managing software licences, SaaS subscriptions, and IT vendor relationships — with an understanding of licence compliance and procurement processes.
    • Familiarity with IT security controls at the endpoint level — device encryption, patch management, endpoint protection, and compliance monitoring.
    • Strong service orientation — a genuine commitment to keeping the engineering team productive and treating IT support as a professional discipline, not a reactive function.
    • Organised and detail-oriented — comfortable maintaining accurate asset registers, access records, and IT documentation in a fast-moving environment.

    Nice to Have

    • Experience supporting engineering or software development teams — with an understanding of the tools and environment that developers and cloud engineers need to do their work effectively.
    • Familiarity with ITIL or a structured IT service management framework — and experience applying it to a real IT support operation.
    • Experience working in a regulated environment — fintech, banking, or similar — with an awareness of the compliance and audit expectations that come with it.
    • Exposure to cloud identity and device management tools — Microsoft Intune, Jamf, or equivalent — for managing a modern, cloud-managed device fleet.
    • ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent IT service management qualification.
    • Experience with IT procurement in a Nigerian or West African context — vendor relationships, local supply chains, and import logistics for hardware.
