Internal Control Officer (Mining Site) at Zotmann International Limited

JOB SUMMARY

• The Internal Control Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies, internal control procedures, and regulatory requirements across the mining site. The role involves monitoring financial and operational activities, conducting audits, identifying risks, preventing fraud, and safeguarding the company's assets, inventory, equipment, and resources.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct routine audits and inspections of site operations inventory, fuel usage, equipment, and financial transactions.
• Monitor compliance with company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and statutory regulations.
• Monitor the use of diesel, explosives, spare parts, and other critical mining materials to prevent losses and misuse.
• Review procurement, payment, and expenditure processes to ensure compliance with approved procedures.
• Prepare internal audit reports, risk assessments, and recommendations for management.
• Ensure fixed assets, mining equipment, and company property are properly accounted for and safeguarded.
• Conduct periodic spot checks and surprise inspections across departments.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of internal control systems and risk management processes.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is required or will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in Internal Control, Internal Audit, or Risk Management, preferably in the mining, manufacturing, or construction industry. Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks, auditing standards, and risk management practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and accounting or ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical, investigative, and report-writing skills. Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and conduct field inspections in a mining environment.
• Knowledge of mining operations, inventory control, fuel management, and asset management will be an added advantage.
