    Intern - Exams Marketing Support

    Role purpose

    • The British Council would like to offer fresh graduates an experiential learning opportunity to gain real world experience through an internship programme. The practical experience an intern gains is expected to complement the theoretical knowledge he/she has gained during their studies. The Intern intern is expected to both learn from and contribute to the workplace during the internship period, in turn providing an opportunity to increase employability skills.
    • This internship offers practical experience in digital marketing, communications, Exams product promotions, social media content management, campaign planning and promotion, email communications, basic website content improvements, data collection, research on marketing trends, and support for exams business development and events and internal communications
    • Interns will support and report to the Senior Exams Marketing Manager and work within a diverse and professional team environment, contributing to ongoing marketing campaigns while gaining real-world exposure. The internship is designed to help early-career professionals build practical skills, professional confidence, and industry experience.

    Role context

    • The English and Examinations Strategic Business Unit (E&E) is one of three strategic business units in the British Council (the others being Arts and Education & Society) all of which have the remit to build trust for the people of the UK by building relationships through aspects of our language and culture. E&E achieves this by enabling people across the world to access the life-changing education and work opportunities that are created by learning English or gaining valuable UK qualifications. Promoting the English language also provides a medium for communication, helping break down barriers of misunderstanding or mistrust between cultures. The British Council’s vision for English & Examinations is to be the world authority in high quality English language teaching, learning and assessment, as well as the international distributor of choice for UK professional and school qualifications.
    • The Examinations business makes a significant contribution to British Council financial sustainability, and as such, it is essential that the business evolves to maintain its position in a fast-changing operating context. Nigeria exam business is the British Council’s largest exams operation in Sub-Saharan Africa with offices in 4 cities – Port Harcourt in the south, Kano in the north, Abuja the Federal capital, and the commercial city of Lagos. We also have a number of project offices across the country. Our 200 employees work across a range of states delivering large scale contracts, partnership programmes, examinations, projects as well as services in Arts, Education & Society and English & Exams. We are already delivering exams in about 23 states and have plans to grow and expand our impact even further across Nigeria. While we partner mostly with UK examination board and institutions to delivers exams, we also have a network of about 400 partner schools locally that sit Cambridge exams.

    The Exams Marketing intern will have the opportunity to put to practice their knowledge and skills in a workplace as they gain more experience to further their career in Marketing.

    Main Accountabilities

    • Support the planning and execution of digital marketing campaigns for Exams products.
    • Assist in managing social media platforms, including content creation and scheduling.
    • Contribute to email communications, marketing materials, and promotional content.
    • Conduct market research and gather data to support marketing strategies and business development.
    • Support the coordination of marketing events, outreach activities, and internal communications.
    • Assist with basic website content updates and performance tracking of marketing campaigns.
