Design and specify instrumentation and control systems for oil and gas production, processing, and transportation facilities.
Develop and review Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), logic diagrams, and instrument loop diagrams.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in instrumentation and control engineering.
Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs and DCSs to optimize operational processes.
Specify and select instruments and control devices, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level sensors.
Oversee the installation, calibration, and testing of instrumentation and control systems.
Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure the reliability and accuracy of equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
Implement advanced process control strategies to enhance efficiency and operational performance.
Integrate safety instrumented systems (SIS) to ensure compliance with safety integrity level (SIL) standards.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies and risk assessments.
Prepare detailed technical documentation, including engineering reports, manuals, and operational guidelines.
Maintain accurate records of instrumentation systems, modifications, and upgrades.
Provide technical support during audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
Professional Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering within the oil and gas industry, with upstream experience preferred.
Professional certification in Instrumentation and Control (e.g., ISA, TUV Functional Safety Engineer) is an advantage.
Proven experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong knowledge of process instrumentation, sensors, actuators, and communication protocols (e.g., HART, MODBUS, FOUNDATION Fieldbus).
Proficiency in control system design, programming, and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with international standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511, and API guidelines, API 670.
Expertise in the use of simulation and modeling tools for system optimization.
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong project management and organizational abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to adapt to dynamic work environments and manage multiple priorities.
