    Infrastructure Engineer Assistant

    Location: Mafa, Borno State
    Project Duration: 7 Months
    Reporting To: Infrastructure Engineer / Project Manager

    Job Summary

    DHCBI is seeking a dedicated Infrastructure Engineer Assistant to support the design, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of small-scale infrastructure projects under its humanitarian and development programming. The successful candidate will work closely with the Infrastructure Engineer and Project Manager to assist in the supervision of construction works, ensure compliance with engineering standards, and promote community engagement in infrastructure initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist the Infrastructure Engineer in preparing drawings, bills of quantities (BoQs), technical specifications, and work plans.
    • Support in supervising field construction activities including water, sanitation, irrigation, and small-scale public works (e.g., culverts, latrines, boreholes).
    • Monitor contractors’ performance and ensure construction is done according to standards, specifications, and agreed timelines.
    • Conduct technical assessments of project sites and prepare field visit reports.
    • Participate in community mobilization and sensitization around infrastructure-related interventions.
    • Help maintain records of materials, tools, and logistics used on sites.
    • Support data collection for infrastructure project monitoring and evaluation (M&E) purposes.
    • Ensure that safety and environmental standards are adhered to at construction sites.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Infrastructure Engineer or Project Manager.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Building Technology, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 4–5 years of field experience in infrastructure projects, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
    • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and engineering safety standards.
    • Ability to use technical tools such as AutoCAD, Excel, and GPS equipment is an added advantage.
    • Fluency in English required; knowledge of Hausa or Kanuri is desirable.
    • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and teamwork skills.
