Job Overview

The Import Assistant is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all import operations to ensure the smooth, timely, and cost-effective movement of goods across international borders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the entire process of importing goods, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and coordinating with customs authorities.
• Managing import documentation is crucial for smooth customs clearance and timely delivery.
• Manage customs broker relationships, take end-to-end ownership of clearance operations, and improve clearance efficiency through standardized processes.
• Ensuring all imports comply with customs laws, trade regulations, and import licensing.
• Monitor shipment schedules and tracks imports to ensure timely delivery and inventory management.
• Accurate management of import documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs declarations, is essential.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field
• Experience: 0–3 years in import or logistics operations
• Knowledge:
  • Import documentation (commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, certificates of origin)
  • Letters of credit and trade finance basics
  • Landed cost calculation and foreign exchange awareness
  • Freight and shipping operations (sea, air, road)
  • Supply chain and procurement processes
  • Import compliance and regulatory requirements
  • International trade agreements and restricted goods regulations
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
