The Illustrator/Graphic Designer will provide high-quality design services, including creating new pictorial communication from scratch and redesigning and updating existing materials. Their work will include not only executing specific instructions shared by CLEAR Global or partners but also developing original concepts and designs independently. Strong visual storytelling skills and creativity are essential.
Context
CLEAR Global will be producing and updating a number of communications materials and knowledge products, including risk communication and community education posters, flipcharts, banners, and other information materials. These materials target people who have been displaced as a result of conflict or disasters. Preparation for these publications involves engaging with the partner to understand the needs and context, and to apply their feedback, as well as creation and updates to the materials. Some of the meetings with the partner will happen in person in Maiduguri and some remotely. Some of the CLEAR Global team engaged on the project will also be based in Maiduguri and some team members will support remotely. To ensure that the publications are developed and designed on time, CLEAR Global is seeking a professional illustrator/graphic designer to provide high-quality, localized design services.
Scope of Work
Provide professional and high-quality illustrations and graphic design for publications/ banners/posters and other information, education and communications materials that are localized for the context of Northeast Nigeria. The final materials for publication will include images and content in multiple languages.
Deliver materials at a short notice, according to a set work plan.
Share draft design, solicit comments and incorporate them during the process of finalizing the materials. This may involve several back and forth between CLEAR Global, the partner and the designer, including in-person meetings.
Provide working files [InDesign package] as well as final print files (high-resolution) and low-resolution files [PDF, JPEG or PowerPoint slides].
Qualifications
The consultant should be a creative self-starter with a strong sense of initiative and enthusiasm about the importance of increasing access to knowledge through visual and language-based communication. The right candidate is an energetic team player who agrees with CLEAR Global´s core values and can work remotely to collaborate with partners and team members.
Skills required
At least 2 years of experience of print and layout design of posters, banners and other media.
Demonstrated competency in illustration from scratch, with strong visual storytelling skills through images.
Prior experience of working with international as well as national organizations.
Proficiency in graphic design software (such as Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign).
