    Human Resources/Safeguarding Officer

    Job Summary

    JRS is seeking to build a culture of prevention of safeguarding violations in our workplace and in her programs – as well as a safe environment for reporting. We are determined to protect our beneficiaries and staff from safeguarding violations through prevention and, where misconduct is alleged, to address it.The Human Resource/Safeguarding Officer is responsible for fostering dynamic staff learning and dialogue on safeguarding while handling the daily administrative and human resource duties of the organization

    Responsibilities

    • Under the technical guidance of the HR Manager, the incumbent will provide hands on support to all field offices within Adamawa State through ensuring the consistent implementation of HR standards, policies, procedures and processes.
    • The incumbent will support in the capacity building of all staff in the Project Offices. S/he is responsible for the implementation of Human Resources policies and procedures, and the correct administrative management of all staffs working in the project according to HR coordinator’s indications and JRS procedures and local laws.
    • Participate in recruitment and selection processes and ensure adherence to policies and procedures in filling vacant posts.
    • Under the guidance of the HR Manager, develop programs to enhance employee welfare and resilience.
    • Ensure that the orientation process properly introduces new employees to the corporate culture.
    • Ensures that all new staff in the project are oriented.
    • Supports the field office staff with performance management, capacity building, disciplinary measures and any other HR matters.
    • Supervises recruitment of incentive staff, carrying out amendments and contract termination formalities for employees at project level, according to labour local laws.
    •  Assists the Project Director with leave management including staff shifts in order to forecast HR needs and to ensure HR availability for the project activities.
    • Plans and conducts internal HR workshops, induction, and trainings for national staffs according to organizational needs.
    • Management of HR tools/trackers (updating JDs, onboarding, Contracts and Leave tracking) for the field office.
    • Prepares monthly HR reports.
    • Report all country-safeguarding incidents and share with the HR manager.
    • Own the referral pathways in your country, including managing partner referral databases, partner relationship management, and referral pathway playbooks.
    • Work with the HR Manager Programs team and the Project Director to ensure a coordinated, well-tracked system to track orientation of newly hired staff, enumerators, incentive workers, etc., to JRS polices, reporting pathways, and basic survivor referral and support options.
    • Work with the HR Manager and Senior Management Team to build safeguarding messaging and micro-learning into team meetings and communications to promote continuous learning.
    • Promote PSEAH/ Safeguarding standards within JRS and amongst beneficiaries served by JRS

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of B.Sc./HND in Human Resource Management, Personnel Administration, or related field.
    • A Certification in Human Resources management is desirable.
    • A certificate in safeguarding is highly desirable. Experience in lieu of certification is considered.
    • Experience facilitating ongoing learning and orientation.
    • Able to work professionally and with a high degree of confidentiality at all times.
    • Minimum of 4 years experience in Human resource field.
    • 3-years experience working with INGO preferable.
    • Good command of written and spoken English, Kanuri, and Hausa Languages is essential.
    • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills and excellence as a team player.
    • Excellent writing, analytical and reporting skills.
    • Respect and adherence to protection principles.
    • Honesty and integrity and able to cope with stressful situations.
    • The incumbent is expected to adhere to JRS values and respect the code of conduct, work in a high-pressure environment, have a good autonomy and be able to adapt quickly to your work according to local condition.
