Health Safety Environmental Officer at M-P Infrastructure Limited

Job Summary

• We are recruiting to fill the position of a Health Safety and Environmental Officer.
• The Health Safety and Environmental Officer will be responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment by implementing and maintaining safety policies and procedures.
• They conduct risk assessments, investigate incidents, and provide training to employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Acquire work materials and PPEs.
• Responsible for monitoring and assessing hazardous and unsafe situations and developing measures to assure personnel safety.
• Correct unsafe acts or conditions through the regular line of authority, although may exercise emergency authority to prevent or stop unsafe acts when immediate action is required.
• Maintain awareness of active and developing situations.
• During initial response, document the hazard analysis process, hazard identification, exposure assessment and controls. 
• Participate in planning meetings to identify any health and safety concerns inherent in the operations daily work plan.
• Exercise emergency authority to prevent or stop unsafe acts.
• Keep workers, supervisors and the HSE assistant informed often.
• Carry out any other duties as instructed by the HSE Manager deemed as necessary.
• Continual surveillance of the Offices, warehouses/workshops, installations & other potentially hazardous areas that require industrial safety precautions & ensure that all necessary safety equipment & safety signs are in place throughout MP Infrastructure work sites.
• Assist and participate in emergency drills as required.
• Assist and advise supervisors with good housekeeping practices.
• Ensure operational personnel use and have correct protective clothing and equipment PPE.
• Report unsafe acts and conditions promptly
• Ensure Fire Marshall’s are deployed where required
• keeping of HSE documentation/updating

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in a QHSE role, preferably in similar industry.
• Strong knowledge of QHSE management systems and the regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication and training skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
