Health Safety & Environment Manager / Ojota - Lagos

Job Summary

Responsible for designing, developing, implementing, coordinating, and communicating all organizational safety programs as regards occupational health and environment of UAC Foods Limited. The incumbent will also review and update HSE policies and conduct risk assessments to detect potential hazards and plan precautionary measures.

You will be accountable for

• Implementing and enforcing UAC Food’s corporate HSE policy and procedures to ensure business operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with relevant legislation and company and client requirements.
• Ensuring that workplace hazards are identified, and appropriate risk mitigation and risk controls are implanted for HSE in the organization. Also, perform regular review of the risk mitigation and control plan
• Ensuring strict adherence to Health Safety and Environment requirements for the protection of staff, and company’s assets and facilities.
• Developing & promoting a positive HSE culture across the organization, ensuring clear accountability, responsibility, skill, and knowledge.
• Developing and ensuring companywide HSE manual, policies, procedures, and processes are maintained throughout the organization.
• Ensuring general hygiene in the factory (GMP) and prompt fumigation of the factory and premises.
• Enforcing disposal procedure of solid waste materials are implemented.
• Handling the procedure for wastewater discharge to comply with Local Regulations on wastewater discharges.
• Ensuring the procedures for both in-house ad third party pest control and fumigation programs are effectively implemented.
• Ensuring an adequate program of training for HSE is established and that the safety culture is encouraged amongst employees
• Leading investigation of major accidents, including fatalities, and ensure root cause analyses of accidents are performance, as well as analyses of incident statistics, identifying trends and suggesting improvement plans.
• Providing management with appropriate information on safety, health, and environment related matters.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess

• A Bachelor’s degree or HND in Sciences or Engineering with NYSC certificate.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Health and Safety Management preferably Occupational Health Safety & Environment, Microbiology, Food technology, Biochemistry or Engineering experience in an FMCG industry.
• Innovative, skillful, and self-motivated.
• Strong Analytical, Statistical, and Influencing skills
• Excellent communication and change management skills
• Certification from a relevant professional body (e.g., NEBOSH ISPON, NES, IOSH, IIRSM, etc.)
