- The Head, Technical and Manufacturing is responsible for developing and implementing technical and manufacturing operational strategic plans to ensure maximum capacity utilization towards achieving the company’s strategy, growth and profit objectives in a sustainable way with a highly engaged team.
- This role will have responsibility for Jos factory and Onitsha factory
Key Deliverables and Expectations
The following key deliverables and outcomes are expected from the Technical and Manufacturing function:
Manufacturing function covering Production, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Packaging development, Energy efficiency, Projects, Health, Safety & Environment; and Continuous Improvement & Capability Development Management.
- Responsible for formulating policies, programs, and objectives affecting the schedule, quality, and cost of manufactured products. Directs and co-coordinates production according to quality and quantity specifications within cost objectives.
- Oversees planning and implementation of production plans including agreed sales forecasts; requisition for procurement of raw materials; and manufacturing of products.
- Leads the implementation of new manufacturing initiatives, including strategic resource allocation, applying good manufacturing principles, production systems, techniques for improved efficiencies and adherence to best practice.
- Provides strong leadership to the employees at the plants, ensuring high morale, team work and good employee relations, at all levels, including on the shop floor.
- Oversees all operations and logistics of all the plants and maintain financial discipline.
Interface with other functions e.g. Supply Chain, Finance, Sales, Nutrition, Marketing, HR, Legal etc.
- Ensures compliance to all group systems, guidelines & policies.
- Prepare, review and manage the operational budget for the function.
- Work closely with the Supply Chain to improve the efficiency of the internal supply chain network; and with the sales team to improve servicing levels of the customers.
- Ensure sales and marketing activities for changes in packaging are well coordinated to minimize production disruption.
- Play a key role in the “Buying Committee” to ensure value-added service.
Management of Complexity
- The Head Technical & Manufacturing will usually be allotted several different types of sub-projects running in parallel. It is the responsibility of the Head Technical and Manufacturing to ensure each project is well executed, on time, and within budget.
Reporting
- Monitor expenditure to stay within limits of the capex and report any deviations.
- Collate the costs & expenditures associated with each project at regular intervals.
- Prepare and report the financials of projects to the appropriate committee or authority.
- Rightly categorize assets for capitalization.

- On Time In Full (OTIF) project delivery
- On-budget (no variation)
- Develop risk mitigation plan
- Build effective relationship with all stakeholders

- Share progress reports regularly
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field
- 7-10 experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food or agricultural industry
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and technology relevant to the food industry
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
