The Head of Recovery is a strategic leadership role responsible for architecting and executing Moniepoint’s debt recovery framework.
As a qualified legal professional, you will ensure minimal credit losses by optimizing the recovery unit’s efficiency through a blend of rigorous legal strategy and operational excellence.
In this capacity, you will develop and implement comprehensive recovery strategies, design the organizational structure of the recovery unit, and recruit high-caliber talent.
Your deep legal expertise in debt litigation and asset recovery will be vital in navigating complex delinquency cases.
You will leverage a data-driven approach to evaluate the efficacy of recovery tactics and personnel performance.
What you’ll get to do
Develop and execute recovery strategies to reduce non-performing loans and bad debt provisions.
Act as the primary legal strategist for the recovery department, ensuring all actions comply with financial regulations and debt collection laws.
Manage high-level engagements with external stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, and external counsel, to expedite the resolution of non-performing loans (NPLs).
Design the recovery organisation and supervise the hiring process for recovery talent
Optimise the effectiveness of the recovery team by setting clear objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Continuously provide training to the recovery network in alignment with established recovery strategies and industry best practices.
Report on recovery performance and provide insights to senior management.
Collaborate with internal departments such as credit, legal, risk, and finance to align recovery efforts.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB)
Minimum 7 years of experience in debt recovery/litigation in Nigeria
Strong knowledge of debt recovery laws, banking regulations, and court procedures in Nigeria.
At least 7 years of experience in credit recovery
Strong network of legal and law enforcement contacts across the country
Proven experience in leading a recovery team and managing high-value non-performing loans
Proven experience in handling recovery in each of the 6 geo-political zones in Nigeria
Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data
