    Head of Quality Control

    Job Description

    • As the Head of Quality Control in alarge multi-faceted furniture factory, you will lead the Quality Control department to ensure that our products meet the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for developing and implementing quality control procedures, managing the inspection and testing processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities

    Defect Rate:

    • Develop and implement strategies to minimize the defect rate.
    • Analyze defect data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

    Customer Complaints:

    • Monitor and analyze customer complaints related to product quality.
    • Implement measures to address customer concerns and improve overall customer satisfaction.

    First-Time Pass Rate:

    • Implement efficient inspection and testing procedures to improve the first-time pass rate.
    • Identify and address factors contributing to rework and production delays.

    Supplier Quality:

    • Establish and maintain criteria for evaluating supplier quality.
    • Collaborate with the procurement department to address supplier performance issues and drive improvements.

    Quality Costs:

    • Analyze the total cost of quality-related activities.
    • Identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining high-quality standards.

    Audit Findings:

    • Prepare for and participate in internal and external quality audits.
    • Address and rectify audit findings to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.

    Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):

    Sampling Procedure:

    • Identify and implement sampling plans for each product or process.
    • Define sample size, sampling frequency, and acceptance criteria.
    • Document the sampling process, ensuring representative samples are collected.
    • Transfer samples to the laboratory for testing and analysis.

    Inspection Procedure:

    • Develop inspection plans for incoming materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
    • Define inspection criteria and methods, training inspection personnel accordingly.
    • Perform inspections as per the defined plan and document results.
    • Take appropriate action based on inspection outcomes.

    Testing Procedure:

    • Develop testing plans for each product or process.
    • Define testing methods, acceptance criteria, and test frequency.
    • Use calibrated equipment for accurate tests and record results.
    • Document corrective actions based on test outcomes.

    Calibration Procedure:

    • Establish a calibration plan for equipment used in testing and inspection.
    • Define calibration frequency and acceptance criteria for each piece of equipment.
    • Calibrate equipment using calibrated standards and document results.
    • Maintain accurate records of equipment calibration.

    Documentation Procedure:

    • Define documentation requirements for each product or process.
    • Review and approve quality control documents for accuracy and completeness.
    • Retain quality control records for the required period and ensure easy retrievability.
    • Ensure records are available for internal and external audits.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or related field.
    • Minimum 10-15 years in quality control within the furniture manufacturing industry in Nigeria
    • Proven experience in quality control within the furniture manufacturing industry.
    • In-depth knowledge of quality control procedures, sampling, testing, and inspection methods.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
