    Head of Engineering

    Role Description: 

    • This role is responsible for leading and managing the engineering team to deliver high-quality products that meet customer needs and business objectives.
    • You will work closely with the executive team, product managers, and other stakeholders to develop and execute on the company's product roadmap, while ensuring that the engineering team is delivering on time and within budget.
    • You will also be responsible for developing and implementing engineering best practices, policies, and procedures to ensure the team operates effectively and efficiently.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Plan, design, and build the architecture of Eight Medical's digital products.
    • Work directly with co-founders to identify, explore, define, and capture market opportunities.
    • Organize and schedule product implementation including architecture, development, UX, and UI.
    • Outline integration plans and/or evaluate different technology options.
    • Define investments associated with technology and scalability
    • Ensure stability, scalability and security of the platform
    • Implement QA process to assure product quality.
    • Attract, manage and retain technological talent, and positioning as a reference in the industry.
    • Developing and implementing engineering practices, policies, and procedures that aligns with the company’s goal and business strategy per time.
    • Lead, manage, and mentor the engineering team, providing guidance and support to ensure they are delivering high-quality products on time and within budget.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and QA to define and execute the product roadmap.
    • Develop and implement engineering best practices, policies, and procedures to ensure the team operates effectively and efficiently.
    • Work with stakeholders to identify and prioritize engineering initiatives and projects, ensuring they align with business goals and objectives.
    • Establish and track OKRs and metrics to measure the effectiveness of the engineering team and identify areas for improvement.
    • Ensure that the engineering team is staying up to date with the latest technologies, tools, and trends, and incorporating them into their work where appropriate.
    • Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors as needed.

    Minimum Job Requirements

    Education/Certifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in any related field or equivalent to Computer Science.
    • MSC is an added advantage.

    Experience

    • 7-10 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
    • Experience in a high-growth startup environment

    Functional Competencies

    • Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies.
    • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall
    • Proven track record of delivering high-quality products on time and within budget.
    • Familiarity with SaaS business models and metrics
    • Experience managing offshore development teams
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
    • Familiarity with cloud technologies, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
