Head, Investment at Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group)

Job Summary

• We are seeking a highly strategic leader and knowledgeable communicator with expertise in capital markets to fill the Head, Investment role.
• This role entails overseeing and directing investment strategies and operations to drive growth and profitability.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and identify lucrative investment opportunities across various asset classes such as equities, fixed income, real estate, alternative investments, and venture capital, bearing in mind NGX Group Plc’s holding company structure.
• Conduct comprehensive due diligence for potential investments, inclusive of detailed financial analysis, industry research, and risk evaluation, focusing particularly on capital expenditure allocation and optimisation.
• Formulate and execute investment strategies that align with NGX Group Plc's objectives and risk tolerance, considering specific needs of holding company investments and venture capital opportunities.
• Manage and monitor investment portfolios, regularly comparing performance with benchmarks and making necessary adjustments, with emphasis on optimising venture capital investments.
• Collaborate with various functions to pinpoint synergistic opportunities and propel overall growth, utilising a deep understanding of holding company dynamics.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as clients, partners, and regulatory bodies, utilising knowledge of holding company structures and venture capital networks.
• Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory modifications, and market developments that could influence investment activities, particularly in relation to holding company operations and venture capital markets.
• Generate periodic reports on investment performance, including detailed risk and return analysis, for the Group Chief Investment Officer and other significant stakeholders, focusing specifically on holding company investments and venture capital portfolio optimisation.
• Lead, guide, and mentor a team, nurturing expertise in NGX Group Plc's investments and venture capital strategies.

Person Specification & Required Qualification(s)

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
• A minimum of 8 years’ experience in investment banking, venture capital, private equity, or a similar field, with at least 3 years in a mid to senior investment role.
• Experience with diverse asset classes and investment vehicles, including equities, fixed income, real estate, and alternative investments.
• Proficient in financial modelling and valuation techniques as well as experienced in conducting due diligence on potential investments.
• Strong familiarity with financial markets, investment trends, and regulatory frameworks.
• Capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, as well as adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines.
• Proven ability to lead a team of investment professionals, providing guidance and support as necessary.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as able to build and sustain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
