    Head, Human Resources

    Experience: 10-15 Years

    Purpose statement:  

    The Head of HR will oversee all personnel-related matters and ensure efficient use of human resources.  This role will also facilitate the realization of Client’s corporate human resource strategy through the formulation and implementation of bespoke and best practice HR policies, procedures and processes. This role will also manage Client’s talent and build a cohesive, highly capable and motivated workforce.  

    Ultimately, the role will ensure HR operates efficiently and effectively and aligns with Client’s business objectives.

    The person

    To be successful in this role, the candidate would have  HR experience in senior roles and good knowledge of Human Resources Management.  In addition, the candidate must possess the following qualities:

    • A good first degree, MSc / MBA
    • HR Credentials (CIPM, SHRM etc). Ability to speak French is an added advantage
    • Must have worked as Head of HR for a minimum of 5 years
    • Personable, Reliable, Assertive, with  strong ethical values
    • Demonstrable Leadership & Management abilities
    • Good knowledge of labour laws
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
    • Experience in designing compensation and benefits programs
    • Experience with Human Resources Information Systems
    • Proficient in MS Office tools
    • Sound organizational and time-management abilities


    Responsibilities

    • Oversee and champion the articulation and development of policies and procedures to enable the realization of the organization’s people management objectives ensuring alignment with overall corporate strategy, business goals and objectives and industry practices and regulatory provisions.
    • Communicate every function’s plan and program ensuring clear understanding of roles, responsibilities and accountabilities  
    • Take ownership for the implementation of approved policies and ensure compliance at all levels.
    • Oversee the planning and forecasting of Client’s workforce requirements, including the tracking and monitoring of the organization structure and manning levels.
    • Champion the formulation and effective implementation of recruitment strategies and plans to identify, select, hire and retain the best talent to meet Client’s manpower needs.
    • Coordinate the design and development of a   training plan/path for all staff across all levels of the organization
    • Take responsibility for Client’s succession and career management strategy and implementation.
    • Oversee the implementation of Client’s performance management system to ensure it is objective, equitable, transparent and merit-driven.
    • Oversee the design, implementation and effective monitoring of appropriate employee compensation and reward strategies, policies and programs to enable Client attract and retain the best talent.
    • Champion the articulation and institutionalization of a winning organizational culture ensuring alignment with corporate strategy, vision and mission.
    • Support  Executive Management in communicating the activities and achievements of the company/department to all relevant stakeholders.
    • Foster a conducive work climate building and maintaining proactive relationships with employee to understand and manage their needs and concerns
    • Continually review and assess the effectiveness and efficiency of existing HR policies, procedures and processes and identify improvement opportunities.
    • Resolve disciplinary cases, appeals and related HR service delivery issues.
    • Prepare and submit periodic management reports on the activities of the department   for management decision making.
    • Other duties as may be assigned
