Head, Engineering at Powerex

BRIEF -  The Head of the Engineering department will be required to oversee the back to back implementation process of renewable power solution(s) to clients in a very professional, timely and safe manner. The position requires thorough knowledge of power electronics, electrical design, engineering techniques, as well as good reporting skills, ability to multitask and good at R & D product development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Project controls, cost estimates, quantity takeoffs and manpower requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders.
• Design basic circuitry and sketches for clarification of details and design documentation based on inspection and specifications. 
• Appropriately diagnose faults related with faults calls and report such before disclosing to clients.
• Prepare budget for assigned projects and develop project plans capturing total costs, timelines, equipment needed and present for approval
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and calibration of equipment and systems.
• Work with the business development team in identifying best solutions and methdology for clients.
• Represent the Company at clients' location to offer technical and professional advise on identified needs.
• Carry out research on products, electrical systems, components and applications in order to identify more contemporary power solutions
• Determine when a job requires repairs by component / parts replacement and/or swap in a way that will maximise profitability.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must possess a BSc in Electrical Engineering, with professional affiliations with COREN, MNSE, ETC
• 8 -12 years cognate experience with advance knowledge in electrical engineering, especially on the renewable power sector
• Must be very conversant with one or more of the following softwares - ETAP, Helioscope, PVSyst, Homer, and so on
• Must be knowledgeable in the application of electrical codes, standards, electrical application for high/low voltage electric system, DC storage systems, alternative energy and allied technologies.
• Experience working with multiple discipline projects with Oil and Gas, Construction, ICT is an advantage
• Must possess timely projects delivery and exceptional client interface skills
• Must be very smart, adaptable, presentable, composed and confident
• Must possess effective business communication skills including verbal and written communications
