Hatchery & Nursery Manager at Proten

Job Description

• We are seeking an experienced Hatchery & Nursery Manager to oversee fish breeding, egg incubation, pre-nursery rearing, packing, and dispatch operations.
• The role will ensure consistent production of healthy, high-quality fish seed while maintaining strong biosecurity, production standards, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily hatchery and nursery operations and production schedules.
• Coordinate broodstock selection, spawning, egg incubation, and hatching.
• Oversee larval and fry rearing, feeding, grading, stocking, and water management.
• Monitor fish health, survival, growth, hatchability, and seed quality.
• Ensure effective biosecurity, hygiene, safety, and batch traceability.
• Coordinate packing, oxygenation, and timely dispatch of fish seed.
• Supervise, train, and develop hatchery and nursery teams.
• Maintain accurate production, inventory, and equipment records and prepare performance reports.
• Drive continuous improvements in production efficiency and survival rates.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Zoology, Animal Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience managing fish hatchery and nursery operations.
• Hands-on experience in breeding, incubation, larval rearing, fry management, packing, and dispatch.
• Experience with catfish or other warm-water fish production is strongly preferred.
• Proven experience leading production teams and maintaining operational records.
