    Group Head, Internal Audit

    Jotna Group is a leading beverage and raw materials manufacturing group in West Africa. The group is primarily into manufacturing in Africa and it comprises of 3 operating business units, The Lacasera Company, Prima Corporation Ltd, and Engee PET Manufacturing Company which are significant players and leaders in their respective sectors.

    Location:  Coker, Lagos

    Reports To:  The Group CEO/The Board.


    The Group Head, Internal Audit role will be accountable for planning, and executing financial compliance with Sarbanes – Oxley reviews, reporting requirements, operational and special projects audits, including procedural and control systems that assure the safety of Group assets and the integrity and reliability of the financials of the Group.
    The role will also support the Board and top management through the development, implementation, monitoring and continuous review of the effectiveness of policies, procedural and control systems that assure the safety of the Group’s assets and the integrity and reliability of the financial database throughout the Group.


    • Undertake Group-wide internal audit and procedure adherence.
    • Group-wide risk assessments and management
    •  Compliance and control of Group’s processes in line with approved standards and methodologies.
    • Group-wide verification and checking of accounts.
    • Group wide compliance reviews and spot checks.
    • Draw up internal control checklists to prevent leakages across the Group.
    • Interface and work with the Group’s External Auditors.
    • Prepare and execute proactive audit programs directed at preventing fraud and material errors and hence safeguard the Group’s assets.
    • Implementation of effective internal control system through internal check for the early detection and reporting of fraud and material errors.
    • Entrenchment of sound IT audit function and blockage of loopholes in IT systems by proposing and implementing improvements in internal control systems and managing and controlling risks associated with automation (IT) of the business process.
    • Enforce the proper implementation of management policies and company procedures by conducting compliance tests and guiding others.
    • Ensure that routine and operations audits are carried out to highlight and prevent misstatements that could lead to losses for the company.
    • Ensure that management is kept informed of how the business is running through monthly exception reporting and other ad-hoc reports; and the preparation of corporate trend analysis of major financial indicators for the company and in comparison, with other local companies in the industry.
    • Oversee the proper implementation and management of major application software (exact, human-manager, access control) through process design, implementation, and training to ensure an adequate internal control system.
    • Support external auditors and design/implements the annual internal audit program to limit the extent of external audit work and hence reduce statutory audit fee paid by the company.
    • Coordinate the packaging of company annual report to ensure accuracy, compliance to standards/statutory requirements and meeting of statutory deadlines.
    • Train and transfer of knowledge to the subsidiary staff to enable them to grow.

    Must have a Graduate Degree.

    • Must have a Post Graduate Degree such as MBA, M.Sc., PGD, etc.
    • Professional Qualification, such as CIA or ACA, is essential.
    • 12 years minimum in Senior Managerial capacity in one of the BIG 4s or in a similar role in the Manufacturing, FMCG sector.
    • Strong Knowledge of IFRS Accounting Standards.
