Job Description
Main Purpose of the Job
Provide excellent government relations strategy, advice and engagement to contribute to the accomplishment of the objectives of the Kimberly-Clark Consumer organization in Nigeria and East Africa and of the Corporation, and to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in relation to Government Relations and engagement.
Short summary of main responsibilities
Trusted business partner to the General Manager Nigeria, the Business Development Director, Developing MEA and other senior managers
To develop and execute a government relations strategy for the geography with clear priorities and committed targets
To directly engage government officials and politicians on the company’s behalf at all levels, including the Ministerial level to generate positive outcomes on government policies impacting the business
To represent the company externally in meetings and events where government officials and politicians of all levels, including the Ministerial level, may be present
To work closely with General Managers and all functional leaders to obtain the information and commitments from the business necessary to deliver the targeted outcomes
To undertake activity to promote the company’s profile with a wide range of external stakeholders (political, Government, inward investment, embassies, trade associations) to build Kimberly-Clark’s profile in the region
To monitor and track political, legislative and policy developments as they relate to Kimberly-Clark’s business (notably inward investment, tax and trade incentives, trade and customs, and environment policies )
Liaise with various regulatory / legal and related internal/ external functions, as well as all parties to company contractual relationships.
To build a wider network of strong relationships - for example to represent K-C at local trade associations, issue associations, attending external meetings and networking events, and proactively engaging government officials and politicians at all levels
Required Qualifications / Experience
Experience working in policy areas such as tax, energy, transportation, environment, trade and employment/labor.
Undergraduate degree with good academic credentials. A relevant graduate level or law degree is desirable, but not required.
A minimum of 7 years government relations experience. Corporate experience is preferred, but not required.
