We seek a talented and enthusiastic GIS Analyst to join our team.
The ideal candidate will play a vital role in harnessing the power of spatial data to inform our projects across health, agriculture, and energy, supporting effective decision-making and impactful development interventions.
Responsibilities:
Collect, analyze, and interpret geospatial data from various sources (government agencies, surveys, remote sensing, open-source repositories, etc.)
Develop and maintain spatial databases, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
Conduct spatial analysis using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) to identify patterns, trends, and relationships.
Create high-quality maps, charts, and visualizations to communicate complex spatial information effectively.
Conduct field data collection using GPS and GIS tools (when required).
Support project teams with GIS expertise, providing technical advice and guidance.
Contribute to proposals and technical reports related to GIS applications.
Stay current with emerging GIS technologies and trends.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or related field.
Minimum of two years cognate experience working with GIS software (ArcGIS/QGIS preferred)
Strong understanding of geospatial concepts and analytical methods.
Excellent data management and visualization skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Experience working in the development sector, specifically with healthcare, agriculture, or energy, would be a plus.
Useful Skills:
Experience working in development consulting or donor organizations is an added advantage.
Experience with remote sensing data analysis.
Programming skills (Python, R).
Knowledge of relevant development frameworks and methodologies
