Position Overview:
As the Gender & Safeguarding Lead, you will be instrumental in ensuring that our programs are designed, implemented, and monitored with a strong focus on gender equality, diversity, and the safeguarding of vulnerable populations. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to creating an inclusive and safe environment for individuals participating in our skills training initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement gender equality strategies and initiatives:
- Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive gender equality strategies and initiatives aimed at promotinggender equity and empowering women within the organization and in the communities we serve.
Conduct gender analysis:
- Conduct thorough gender analyses to identify existing gender disparities, barriers, and opportunities within the organization and its programs. Utilize findings to inform decision-making and program design.
Provide gender-sensitive supportand guidance:
- Offer guidanceand support to all staff members on integrating gender-sensitive approaches into their work. Provide training and capacity-building sessions to enhance staff understanding of gender equality principles and practices.
Lead safeguarding efforts:
- Develop and implement safeguarding policies, procedures, and protocols to prevent and respond to incidents of harassment, exploitation, abuse, and other forms of misconduct within the organization. Ensure that safeguarding measuresare effectively communicated and adhered to by all staff and stakeholders.
Conduct safeguarding risk assessments:
- Conduct regular safeguarding risk assessments to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities within the organization and its programs. Develop mitigation strategies to address identified risks and ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals involved.
Monitor and evaluate genderand safeguarding initiatives:
- Establish robustmonitoring and evaluation mechanisms to trackthe effectiveness of gender equality and safeguarding initiatives. Collect relevant data and indicators to assess progress towards goals and outcomes.
Advocate for gender equalityand safeguarding:
- Serve as a key advocate for gender equality and safeguarding both within the organization and externally. Represent the organization in relevant forums,networks, and partnerships focused on gender issues and safeguarding practices
Collaborate with stakeholders:
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, community organizations, and donors,to promote genderequality and safeguarding principles and foster partnerships for collective action.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master'sdegree in gender studies, socialwork, international development, or a relatedfield.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in gender equality, women's empowerment, and safeguarding, preferably in a development or humanitarian context.
- Strong understanding of gender analysisframeworks, gender mainstreaming approaches, and safeguarding principles and standards.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing gender equality and safeguarding strategies and initiatives.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and training facilitation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated commitment to upholding ethicalstandards and promoting the safety and dignity of all individuals.
