    Gender, Parenting and Adolescent Officer

    Job Summary

    • The Gender, Parenting and Adolescent Officer of the organization will be working directly with PHI technical team and other Implementing partners to support community case workers, caregivers, community stakeholders to implement programs that are culturally acceptable and age-appropriate to promote gender mainstreaming in the project communities.

    Responsibilities
    Technical Leadership:

    • Work with PHI thematic lead to ensure gender integration throughout the implementation of the project in accordance with the USAID donor policies / strategies and gender requirements.
    • Working with Stakeholders in target communities about the sexual risk of adolescents
    • Facilitate caregiver’s forums and kids/adolescent clubs in the community for parenting and protection skills development using USAID approved manuals.
    • Participate in meetings and trainings with CALHIV C-KP and program for them within the continuum of care on OVC- HIV programming towards reaching 95-95-95 goal
    • Train Caregivers and Adolescent boys and girls to identify issues of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) and GBV through culturally acceptable and age-appropriate content
    • Participate in referral mechanism meeting to strengthen linkages between the communities and health facilities for ASRH and gender-based violence, including implementation of clinical pathway for treatment of sexual assault survivors;
    • Document success stories, lessons learned and innovations within project community, as appropriate;
    • Train community case workers, child protection committees and other key stakeholders on gender integration and child protection;
    • Provide regular supportive supervision to project community to ensure the achievement of expected results.

    Representation:

    • Represent their organizations in external technical meetings, conferences and workshops related to gender and adolescent Boys/Girls at the state, LGA and communities.
    • Participate on behalf of their organization in strategic meetings with the government or private sector
    • Search for opportunities to link households with government program on OTZ and other preventive programming
    • Liaise and coordinate with other gender and adolescent actors, including the government, other civil society actors to promote synergy, share lessons learned and avoid duplication.
    • Represent the organization at ICHSSA 4 Community of practice meetings and other related meetings

    Supervision and Mentoring:

    • Provide guidance to volunteers on Gender, parenting and Adolescent related program implemented activities
    • Participate in field visits for direct interaction with households.

    Requirements

    • Candidate must hold a B.Sc / HND in Social Sciences or Health-related field (MPH or Masters in Development studies will be an added advantage)
    • Minimum of 2 years professional experience with an NGO or organization implementing gender/gender-based Violence projects
    • Familiarity with cultural issues around gender response in the North East
    • Candidate must have completed NYSC
    • Ability to work in a team
    • Demonstrable skill in the use of word processors (MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint)
    • Ability to take initiative and perform under intense pressure.
