    GBV/MHPSS Project Officer

    Role Purpose:

    The GBV/MPHSS Officer will provide technical support and leadership required for the successful implementation of CBM project and will support in awareness raising activities, including the provision of information on available GBV and SRH services and facilitating referrals. The GBV/MPHSS officer will be responsible for providing training and mentoring to community volunteers in referring cases of GBV.

    Scope of Role:

    Reports to: Project Coordinator

    • Staff reporting to this post: Project Case Workers and Volunteers Role Dimensions: Travel between Sardauna and Kurmi LGAs Key Areas of Accountability:
    • Technical planning, supervision and monitoring of the field activities
    • Oversee case management including follow-up on referrals and action plans, and support services provided to GBV survivors, ensuring that the survivors receive the minimum package
    • Work closely with the team to Initiate planning for longer-term GBV prevention and response activities, including referral pathways and standard operating procedures
    • Maintain, monitor and measure GBV project implementation and contribute to effective information management on GBV survivors, adhering to the national guidance on case management of survivors and the SOPs
    • Closely work with case workers, outreach workers etc to ensure that best practices are respected and international standards are met in responding and preventing GBV
    • Provide technical oversight and capacity-building through training, mentorship and on-the-job support for case workers, community volunteers, and adolescent peer groups on GBV and SRH awarenessraising and referrals.
    • Strengthen and maintain networks with community leaders and groups and service providers to ensure that survivors receive compassionate support from the community and to encourage greater communication, collaboration and coordination among partners.
    • Input into referral pathways to ensure a community perspective is included. Ensure referral pathways are shared and understood within the community.
    • Supervise and lead the implementation of activities at the community psychosocial centers including the setting up of information and help desk
    • Participate in the development of monthly outreach plans with case workers and community volunteers, based on case trends and ongoing needs of women and girls, including strategies to reach women and girls who are more isolated/have special needs.
    • Provide leadership and guidance regarding GBV and SRH activities to all Case Workers to ensure all program activities meet best practice standards as well as taking lead in male discussion sessions in Engaging Men through Accountable Practice.
    • Assist with developing adequate project monitoring systems and help to ensure that Case Workers utilize these systems correctly and consistently and provide support where needed
    • Ensure the implementation of an effective referral system at the interagency and community level to ensure survivors can access quality case management services in a timely manner.
    • Lead case management of Gender Based Violence Cases and ensure proper documentation, assessment, case plan implementation, followup and information management of all GBV cases.
    • Submit monthly report
    • And perform any other task as assigned.
    • .Stakeholder coordination
    • Field coordination with the local stakeholders, GBV/MHPSS clusters on best practices.
    • Coordinate with local authorities and ensuring continuous communication with survivors, agriculture department and communities’ representatives regarding the implementation of works and in order to ensure a flawless progress of activities.
    • Support in building relationships between Christian Blind Mission (CBMI), district authorities, clusters and communities.
    • Data collection and reporting
    • Regular field visit, monitor, document and report work progress
    • Report possible problem or conflict with possible solutions during the activities.
    • Report the use of materials and possible improvement.
    • Administrative tasks relevant to project activities
    • Logistical planning of distributions and other field activities (procurement, transport, cash advance etc.) in collaboration with the project team.
    • Provide the PC and monitoring team with relevant information for project reports and surveys;
    • Compile data collected from assessment and surveys with close coordination of the MEAL department for reporting purposes;
    • Assisting the Project Coordinator in the hiring and training of project volunteers
    • Support research and study activities as assigned by the PC;
    • Arrange all necessary logistics for activities of projects including workshops and trainings.
    • The duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience as assigned by the project coordinator and donors.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Prospective candidate must possess at least a relevant degree from a recognized institution.
    • A minimum of two years post NYSC relevant working experience.
