    GBV/MHPSS Officer

    ABOUT JPRM

    Justice Peace and Reconciliation Movement (JPRM) is a National NGO officially registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in 1998 under number 11419. The organisation is registered with the Adamawa State Ministry of Social Development, Youth Sports and Culture. The organisation's staff have experience in managing and implementing projects in rural areas, particularly in the areas of peacebuilding, humanitarian assistance, community development, advocacy and adult education. Currently, JPRM is involved in conflict monitoring and prevention, peacebuilding, women's engagement in peace, security and women's empowerment, and humanitarian assistance in north-eastern Nigeria, particularly in Adamawa State.

    CBM International in collaboration with its implementing partners (JPRM) will implement the BMZ Transitional Development Aid funded Project in Adamawa State, towards strengthening the resilience of vulnerable households in selected communities in Mubi North, Mubi South, Michika and Madagali LGA’s, with focus on three complementary and interlinked components in the areas of Food Security and Livelihood, WASH, Protection and Peaceful coexistence.

    Job Summary:                           

    The GBV/MPHSS Officer will provide technical support and leadership required for the successful implementation of CBM project and will support in awareness raising activities, including the provision of information on available GBV and SRH services and facilitating referrals. The GBV/MPHSS officer will be responsible for providing training and mentoring to case workers and community volunteers in referring cases of GBV.

    Major Responsibilities

    • Oversee case management including follow-up on referrals and action plans, and support services provided to GBV survivors, ensuring that the survivors receive the minimum package of services
    • Work closely with the team to Initiate planning for longer-term GBV prevention and response activities, including referral pathways and standard operating procedures
    • Maintain, monitor and measure GBV project implementation and contribute to effective information management on GBV survivors, adhering to the national guidance on case management of survivors and the SOPs
    • Closely work with case workers and outreach workers to ensure that best practices are respected and international standards are met in responding and preventing GBV
    • Provide technical oversight and capacity-building through training, mentorship and on-the-job support for case workers, community volunteers, and adolescent peer groups on GBV and SRH awareness-raising and referrals.
    • Strengthen and maintain networks with community leaders and groups and service providers to ensure that survivors receive compassionate support from the community and to encourage greater communication, collaboration and coordination among partners.
    • Input into referral pathways to ensure a community perspective is included. Ensure referral pathways are shared and understood within the community.
    • Supervise and lead the implementation of activities at the community psychosocial centers including the setting up of information and help desk
    • Participate in the development of monthly outreach plans with case workers and community volunteers, based on case trends and ongoing needs of women and girls, including strategies to reach women and girls who are more isolated/have special needs.
    • Provide leadership and guidance regarding GBV and SRH activities to all Case Workers to ensure all program activities meet best practice standards as well as taking lead in male discussion sessions in Engaging Men through Accountable Practice.
    • Assist with developing adequate project monitoring systems and help to ensure that Case Workers utilize these systems correctly and consistently and provide support where needed
    • Ensure the implementation of an effective referral system at the interagency and community level to ensure survivors can access quality case management services in a timely manner.
    • Lead case management of Gender Based Violence Cases and ensure proper documentation, assessment, case plan implementation, follow-up and information management of all GBV cases.
    • Submit monthly report
    • And perform any other task as assigned.

    Position Requirements

    • Proven experience in similar functions desirable.
    • Experience in GBVIMS and case management
    • Degree in psychology, social sciences, public health, or nursing required.
    • Two years and above experience in a similar position or related
    • Flexible and willing to work in rural communities especially field based
    • Attended training on GBV and is aware of protection issues.
    • Supervisory experience.
    • Fluency in English, additional fluency in Hausa and Kanuri an advantage.
