French Teacher at Total Child School

We are seeking a passionate, qualified, and enthusiastic French Teacher to join our primary school team. The ideal candidate will inspire a love for the French language and culture while creating an engaging, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that supports pupils\' academic and personal development.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching French to primary school pupils in accordance with the approved curriculum. The teacher will deliver interactive and age-appropriate lessons that develop pupils\' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while fostering confidence in language learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct French language teaching in line with approved schemes of work, lesson plans, and school policies.
• Prepare and deliver engaging, interactive, and age-appropriate French lessons using a variety of teaching strategies and instructional resources.
• Develop pupils\' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in French.
• Monitor pupils\' learning progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance academic performance.
• Identify pupils with special learning needs and collaborate with the Additional Needs Teacher to provide appropriate support.
• Prepare and administer classwork, assignments, projects, tests, and examinations, and assess pupils\' performance promptly and fairly.
• Maintain discipline in the classroom, applying approved behaviour management strategies and escalating significant issues to the Sectional Head when necessary.
• Provide pastoral care and contribute to the holistic development and well-being of pupils.
• Maintain accurate records of pupils\' attendance, assessments, progress, and achievements.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding pupils\' academic progress and development.
• Organise language enrichment activities, cultural events, and other initiatives that promote appreciation of the French language and Francophone cultures.
• Participate actively in staff meetings, professional development programmes, school events, and extracurricular activities.
• Foster a collaborative and positive working relationship with colleagues to support the school\'s educational objectives.

Requirements

• Minimum of B.Ed./B.A. (Ed.) in French, French Education, Languages, or a related discipline.
• TRCN certification is compulsory.
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a primary school or similar educational setting.
• Excellent spoken and written French and English language skills.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to create engaging and learner-centred lessons for young children.
• Proficiency in the use of educational technology is an added advantage.
